With a range of Heidelberg presses spanning from 4 to 10 colour configurations and a complete setup of post-press commercial solutions; Goyal Offset Works has established itself as a leader in the print industry. The introduction of the Speedmaster CX 92, equipped with a state-of-the-art Prinect press centre, Intelliline, and Intellistart technology, further solidifies their commitment to excellence.

The journey…

Goyal Offset Works had its humble beginning with a hand-fed printing machine at Daya Basti (Inderlok), which used to be a residential cum commercial neighborhood in the northeast of Delhi. The founding stone was laid in 1978 by Chiranji Lal Goyal, who later decided to move his business to a bigger facility of 400 sq. yards at the GT Karnal Road industrial area. Goyal added a used Heidelberg machine and five more Heidelberg machines in the coming years including a SORS and SORDZ (single and double colour) as his business grew.”My father provided me with the platform to further grow and accomplish things in this chosen field of commercial printing,” says Prince Kumar Goyal, Director at Goyal Offset Works.

As the demand from customers rose for higher quality products and conversion speed, Prince directly has developed the business with multiple Heidelberg machines to their facility.

“In 2017 we shifted to the new premises in Kundli (Haryana), a booming industrial metropolis, north of Delhi as the space and managing the growing business was almost becoming unbearable with operations from several different units at GT Karnal Road,” shares Prince.

Presently Goyal Offset Works has two eight-colour machines, a 10-colour machine and 4 machines of four-colour at Kundli. While adding pre-used machines, Prince realized that a brand-new machine would give them not only an advantage over their competitors but also the production quantity and quality that their customers expect. His latest addition is a brand-new Heidelberg CX 92. “The Speedmaster CX 92 four-colour press , recently added to our arsenal has a very compact size. It is not only able to handle paper for publishers but also print covers efficiently without any problem,” reveals Prince.

The business expanse…

Today, Goyal Offset is capable of producing 60,000 soft-bound books along with about 10,000 hardbound books in a day. On his decision to choose Heidelberg over other brands, Prince quickly points out that they had been a fan of the Heidelberg brand, which is obvious from their shopfloor, which houses the majority of Heidelberg’s. This time he wanted to “have a taste of a brand-new Heidelberg,” he quips, adding, “In fact, I believe that one should go in for new machines if they can especially, if the workload demands match the huge production and quality capabilities of these mammoths.”

With a plate consumption of about 250 plates per day, the prepress department has a busy schedule at Goyal Press. The plate production responsibility is carried in a twelve-hour shift with two CtP machines. The new Heidelberg machine has already crossed 1.6 million impressions since its installation. This is indeed an impressive achievement for Goyal Offset Works.

The Speedmaster CX 92 can cater to a maximum print size of 650 mm × 940 mm (25.59 in × 37.01 in). The press has a maximum format of 640 mm × 920 mm (25.20 in × 36.22 in) with a gripper margin of 10 mm – 12 mm (0.39 in – 0.47 in).
“With the biggest infrastructure in the region in terms of covered area of over 1.75 lakh square feet after Replika Press, Goyal Offset is today a force to reckon with. Prince’s vision to take ahead the company is on a growth path that will be an inspiration for others in the industry,” pitches in Harish Gogia, Cluster Sales Head, North & East Region India, Nepal, and Bhutan at Heidelberg India.

Boasting established HEIDELBERG technology and the new operating concept, the Speedmaster CX 92 offers value retention, quality, and ease of use. It gives an impressive 50% more productivity, enabled by three repeats instead of two for six pages of A4 and 12.5% more productivity, enabled by nine A4 repeats instead of eight larger print formats.

The possible future expansion for Goyal Offset could be in short-run digital printing as they are presently outsourcing this for their publishing customers. “We may add short-run digital printing capability in-house in future, though not immediately,”hints Prince.

The Speedmaster CX 92 blanket cylinder has a length of 840 mm x width of 1,052 mm (33.07 in × 41.42 in) metal-backed, the thickness of the blanket is 1.95 mm (0.077 in) while the packing sheet length is 735 mm x width 1,030 mm (28.94 in × 40.55 in).

Prince’s son Ramit has joined him to share his responsibilities. He is an able hand though he has just begun his journey in the printing and publishing world. “With the blessings of my father and now Ramit joining, we plan to grow at a constant pace in the coming years with the cooperation of the entire staff at our press and the support of all our suppliers including Heidelberg,”concludes Prince.
