During Feb 14-17, the world of paper processing will be meeting in Lucerne for the Hunkeler innovationdays 2011, a biennial unique event in the international trade fair scene with practical relevance witnessing target audience. Once again, the leading providers, some with world premieres, will be represented, along with DOXNET – The Document X-perts Network – coming to Lucerne as a guest for the fourth time. The venue for the event is the new Exhibition Hall 2 which was constructed in compliance with the Swiss Minergie Standard and offers an exhibition area covering some 5,000 sqm. Founded by Swiss company Hunkeler AG, the innovationdays has regularly brought the most important providers in the paper processing sector to Switzerland since its inception in 1996. Going into the ninth round which will take place at the Messeplatz Lucerne, this event has now become a regular fixture. The focus is not on individual products but on holistic production systems with real practical relevance. This special-interest event revolves around paper processing and digital printing and offers a platform for information and networking with a defined framework. The visitor profile of the past years clearly reflects the growing interest that conventional offset printing houses take in digital print processes. Increasingly, investment projects focus on such solutions.

Glimpse of the previous Hunkeler innovationdays event. The entire width and depth of the solution scenarios give the target audience an overview of the products and services currently offered in digital printing in terms of both pre and post systems, in in-line and offline finishing, in the IT and transactional segment, and with regard to the entire range of printed fabrics as well as consumables and finishing materials. A professional international audience from the areas of mailing production, computer centers, web finishing, and the conventional printing industry is given an opportunity to engage with market trends and the latest development in the field of digital production processes. The fact that visitors to Lucerne can meet the most competent representatives and contact persons of the supply industry has from the outset been one of the outstanding features of the innovationdays.

As organizer of the innovationdays, Hunkeler has always ensured a balance between a large diversity of solutions and a manageable size of the trade show. This principle is again applied to the innovationdays 2011. Being one of the leading providers of digital post-press solutions worldwide, the company understands all aspects of paper processing. This explains why it is that precisely those solutions are presented in Lucerne that the market needs both at present and in the future. The fact that many exhibitors will once again announce innovations which have not been presented at any other fairs before attests to the significance generally attached to the innovationdays.

Full colour, wide paper webs of up to 762 mm (30”) and capacities of over 200 meters per minute as well as automation and interconnected workflow solutions will be the main topics at the event. With the modules of the new POPP7 generation, Hunkeler already has an answer to these new challenges. The concept is based on the POPP6 technology for 520 mm (20-5”) wide paper webs which is already successfully producing in the market. These modules of the quality class ‘huncolour ready’ prove their excellence more than 1000-fold in all areas where performance, variety of application and cost-effectiveness as well as extremely gentle processing of full-colour documents in a wide range of printed fabrics from light paper to heavy materials are called for.

As a guest trade association, DOXNET will hold a DOXNET-vor-Ort lecture series on topical issues of modern document management in the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne.

From India, a fast growing economy bringing enormous opportunities for the organisations on the move offering paper processing facilities, equally good number of visitors can not be ruled out. With the increase in activities related to transactional printing, direct marketing, book-on-demand etc happening in India at a faster pace, it does make a lot sense to visit this kind of event, which happens once in two years. In India Hunkeler is represented by CGS Capital Graphic Supplies, New Delhi.
