In this age of global competition it is necessary to produce at most possible economical rates to withstand increasing global competition. To produce good quality and at the same time to save the cost, it is necessary to install latest and up-to-date machinery and equipments.

Offset Printers’ Association (OPA), in collaboration with Zhongke India, organised a technical seminar on the awareness of automatic and semi-automatic rigid box making machines at its office at Ludhiana. Zhongke is a reputed company of China engaged in manufacturing machines required for rigid box making. Such boxes are required for the packaging of mobile phones, shirts, liquor and perfume etc.

Speaking about the potential of Ludhiana for such machinery, Vinod Rajpal said, “Ludhiana is known as the packaging town but at present rigid boxes in Ludhiana are manufactured manually. It may be due to lack of knowledge or availability of material and machinery etc. Ludhiana is the hub of sweet box manufacturing; these boxes can easily be manufactured on these machines. The capacity of the machine is 2700 boxes per hour, whereas manually one person can manufacture not more than 800 boxes per day. Moreover, the quality and strength of these boxes is much superior. Taking in consideration these facts, some of the major sweet manufacturers such as Bikaner Sweets and Haldi Ram have already started using machine made boxes.”

Rajpal further told the participants that they are offering live demonstration of these machines at Noida; and, since the company opened its office and workshop in India after-sales service is no problem. The raw material is also readily available and demand of machine-made rigid boxes is likely to increase in future.
