New Year is a time for a fresh start for many…it is time to upgrade and update ourselves to bring in more success into our lives. It is in this backdrop that the much-awaited Printpack India 2017 is scheduled from February 4-8, 2017 at Greater Noida. Poised to be a bigger and better show than all previous shows, it will be a platform for many exhibitors to showcase new products.

Packaging being one of the most growth sectors, visitors can expect a host of new offerings in this segment. From inspection systems to high-end digital printing systems, there will be something for everyone. The show would be better managed with better facilities for both exhibitors and visitors.

LabelExpo India 2016 also presented a host of new developments in the label industry and Printpack India 2017 would further elaborate on some of those trends as well. In this issue, we bring you a detailed report of the show.

Inks and media being the two most important consumables of the industry, would also see horde of innovations, besides being sustainable and less harmful for the environment. What ink manufacturers need to consider and what trends can we see in future, is well charted out in the article ‘Human health and environment – two major issues for printing ink industry.’

The demonetisation drive that started on November 8 still has its repercussions all around. People were suddenly strapped with little or no money in their hands, which affected a lot of small businesses of all types. Though the long queues outside banks and ATMs have reduced, but the effect is much more. India is said to be moving towards a cashless society but it will take a while for people to get used to it.

Post-demonetisation, we feel that the sectors which would be adversely affected in printing industry would be job work, freelancers, photocopy shops and photo labs, which majorly deal in cash. It will still take a lot of time for them to regularise their work and cash flow.

Besides, the 3D and 4D digital printing is already making uproar and the technology might find better acceptance and many new applications in this New Year.

So, it is a good time for printers of all sizes to go in for updation and upgradation of their present facilities because quality, faster deliveries, better pricing and value-additions would again be the keywords this year.

Wish you all a very successful and Happy New Year!
