“We are exhibiting Canon C8000VP for the first time in West India” says Puneet Datta, Director, Professional Printing Products, Canon India, n conversation with P&P.
P&P: Tell us something about PAMEX?
Puneet: It’sa growing exhibition and the footprint has also increased. The quality of exhibitors is getting better. Number of exhibitors have grown. It seems to be the first exhibition to be conducted on weekdays and is still going good and this as a bold move on the part of the exhibitors because most audience prefers to come during the weekends. Our focus is more on applications that can help the customers grow. From product perspective, we are trying to look at C8000VP, and for the first time we are exhibiting it in an exhibition in the West. This has been a sort of flagship product since the launch of BC10000. If there are people who want the same reliability, consistency and color gamete that the 10000VP is now known for but do not have the upfront capital investments, this is the smaller version. It’s smaller only in terms of speed because he size, weight and everything is just the same.
P&P: Is this product at the entry level?
Puneet:No, the C850 series will be in the entry level, but this is not an entry level rather a mid-level color press. It’s just that it’s slightly more affordable than the 10000VP.
P&P: Apart from the production printers, what all are you showcasing?
Puneet: We have two wide format printers displayed on our stand, one is the inkjet wide format filter and this is the naturally very fast and we are ahead of the industry and gaining market share and this is due to the technology that we have incorporated within these printers and with the strength of our channel partners, who have the necessary tools and knowledge from our side to ensure that their customers have the right products and have the right up time which is very crucial. As you are aware, Canon products are known for their legendary reliability and their up time commitments, so the focus here for the inkjet wide format are many. We are targeting print service providers, photo studios and graphic art printers who are doing some specialized applications.
The other segment we are talking about is the LED pearl based machine which is the Color Wave 700+ which can do CAD CAM prints as well as graphic art application and specialized applications like décor. It is not about what this product can display but what better can this printer offer or what different it can offer than the competitors and that’s the aim of the exhibition.
P&P: Tell us something about your channel partners?
Puneet: For wide format printers, we have more than 60 channel partners and the number of cities we are representing is now growing and we are planning to reach out to 100 cities in India by next year.
