Producing realistic package prototypes is an expensive proposition requiring either using specialized proofing equipment or stopping the press to run samples. The Roland DG solution, using the CGS ORIS Flex Pack, simplifies the process, making it easier, less expensive and more efficient than ever to create effective package prototypes that match the final product for packaging prototypes. Providing a seamless workflow from design to finished print, Roland offers a complete line of inkjet printers and printer/cutters, including new UV-LED and metallic eco-solvent models. The fully integrated solutions ensure that your proofs achieve a production level look and feel on your specified stock at a fraction of the cost and time. Guaranteed results from a complete package!

The world’s leading digital proofing system ORIS Flex Pack brings you uniquely web-based hard copy and soft proofing in one package. At the heart of the application is the CGS patented four-dimensional iterative colour management software which, combined with a specially designed custom interface for Roland VersaCAMM VS series printers, gives you the ultimate in production flexibility for halftone and continuous tone proofing. All printer features, such as multi-pass and print-and-cut, are supported and the included Pantone colour libraries enable proofing of special colours, with the possibility of defining custom colours. Furthermore, ORIS Flex Pack // Web offers integrated soft proofing and proof certification. Available as an option is a connection to the Esko Color Engine spot colour library. Roland partner’s with the leading colour management software CGS to handle all your proofing and colour management needs and provides huge savings in consumables costs.

A remarkable innovation in advanced inkjet technology, the ‘VS Series’ optional metallic and white ink configuration allows users to add value and sophistication to virtually any graphic. In addition to a white and metallic ink, it features orange and green, with the specially developed ORIS XG inks, allowing the production of contract quality proofs and prototypes on substrates similar to the original stock, used in flexible packaging. The Roland VS printer series also include a ‘Print & Cut’ function to produce adhesive labels and decals, fully supported by the software application.

Besides, CGS has developed a wide range of ORIS specialty substrates, to bring you the best in packaging proofing. ORIS media even include an exclusive transfer film, serving as a mechanical primer for original stock, such as carton. Unlike the standard inks, XG inks have been specifically formulated for proofing applications. The standard CMYK set is complemented with orange and green, thereby redefining the set. In addition, white and metallic is also available. As a result, the printable colour space is significantly larger, so that almost all Pantone colours can be reproduced accurately, a prerequisite for proofing high-quality packaging. To ensure uniform drying and to prevent substrates sticking together, especially when printing small repeats, which are to be finished immediately for delivery, CGS has developed an optional add-on dryer that easily fits to the output section of the Roland VS series printer. In nutshell, the new inks offer a large colour space. The system fully supports halftone proofs, including Esko LEN data. The Roland VS offers white and metallics with a density comparable to a Kodak Approval. Even with ORIS ink and media, the cost per proof is low. CGS offers eight different media, optimized for the application.
