“ODPs are just getting better and better every passing year. The fourth Operator Development Programme (ODP) was a grand success with excellent support from our fellow printers. We designed the programme in such a way that the operators could grasp the technology behind each vital division of the print production chain i.e., prepress, press and postpress, in detail. Just like previous ODPs, we were successful in striking the right balance between practical and theoretical sessions,” conveyed professor Rajendrakumar Anayath, head – PMA India, mentioning, “We trained fourteen operators this year and besides regular subjects, we included a special course on print colour management which gives in-depth understanding of colour separation, prepress techniques, preflight checking and proofing methods.”

As per Mahendran from Shree Maruthi Printers, Coimbatore – one of the participants of the fourth ODP, “This training programme was an ink-water balance, colour management, press maintenance, safety procedures, ink application for commercial and packaging printing and so on. Training on ‘print colour management’, in particular, was very useful. We gained knowledge on how to enhance the data in prepress stage itself, which saves time during printing”, expressed Shashidhara from Mangala Art Printers, Bangalore – another ODP participant. The participants also had a chance to visit some local commercial and packaging industries in and around Chennai.
