‘Maximum productivity with minimal downtime’

In a highly competitive and fragmented printing environment, the primary objective of every print-shop is to boost profit margins, while keeping production costs down. Aware of this need, Heidelberg India took the initiative to educate printers on how to use their printing machines to the optimum capacity with minimal down-times.

The company conducted a one-day seminar on Key Maintenance and Advanced Trouble Shooting Techniques in Sheet-fed Offset Printing in Kochi, partnering with the Kerala Master Printer Association. The seminar focused on how to get the most of printing equipment to reach the highest levels of productivity. The seminar witnessed strong attendance from the printing fraternity across Kerala, in addition to participation from the members of the Kerala Master Printer Association (KMPA). Over all, more than 100 participants were present at the event.

“Kerala has always been an important market for us. Such technical sessions help us share our expertise with our customers, to equip them face today’s print-buyers who are more conscious about quality printing at nominal rates”, commented Venkataraman, regional sales manager who handles the Kerala region for Heidelberg.

In a session on “Benefits of Maintenance”, Haribabu, head of customer service, addressed the audience on regular maintenance activities required for a print-shop, and how such efforts promote best results in print production. Commenting on the current print industry trends, Haribabu said, “Today, the market demands a combo of high quality, low price and faster delivery. Present-day equipment’s are automated and supported by high-end electronics that we need to be trained to utilize the equipment fully and more efficiently.” He also emphasized the necessity of periodic maintenance that would lead to cost savings, better productivity and high quality, citing various maintenance activities for real-time issues. While, Joseph Muttathottil, president of Kerala Master Printer Association, said, “It is indeed a great opportunity for KMPA members to learn about maintenance benefits from the experts at Heidelberg. We look forward to more such sessions.” His views were reiterated by Anoop from Anaswara printers, who said, “The session was very useful. Today’s competitive environment demands more value-added services from printers and we need to be better equipped to cater to print-buyers.”
