With leading news designers of the world are confirmed to speak at the event, WAN-IFRA and the Society for News Design (SND) join hands again to organise the second News Design Conference in South Asia to be held from June 03-04, 2014 at Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Andheri, Mumbai. The conference will have focus sessions on Newspaper Design and Redesign, Typography, Photo, Information Graphics and Tablet Design. With the changing reader behaviour and new editorial products, the editors and designers have to move between long form and short form narrations, vector illustrations and graphics, photographs and maps to figure out the best way to use the type and colour palette. This news design conference will help the participants to pick up concepts to develop design styles unique for their publication.

Stephen Komives, conference chairman and executive director, SND said, “We now have a catalogue of incredibly sophisticated storytelling deliberately conceived to work across many platforms.” According to Magdoom Mohamed, MD, WAN-IFRA South Asia the publishing business in South Asia throws a unique challenge of growing audiences in print and at the same time investing in digital for the future. This conference will showcase global and regional best news design practices and will well serve to address some of the challenges, importantly of increasing the reader attention to the company’s news products.

Pre Conference Workshop by Lucie Lacava will be preceded by a workshop on ‘Newspaper Design’ lead by well known news designer Lucie Lacava. Participants will get an opportunity to analyse their publications and to work on the designs under the guidance of the trainer.
