ImPort duty on kraft papers need to be scrapped

Indian Corrugated Case Manufacturers Association (ICCMA) demanded for scrapping the import duty on kraft papers due to price rise in domestic market in the last few months mounting pressure on manufacturing cost of corrugated boxes. “While the demand for corrugated boxes is growing steadily at 10-15 per cent a year, the supply for kraft papers in the market is not able to match the demand,” says Vikash Goyal, joint secretary, ICCMA in a news report. The spiral rising manufacturing costs is also affecting consumer-driven industries including FMCG, pharma, textiles, etc in which corrugated boxes are widely used for secondary packaging.
