Rajesh Bhargav: Master of 3Ms in printing -machinery, material and men

Born in the family of printers, paper manufacturers, publishers and having a knack of all round updates on happenings in print-world since his early days, have brought Rajesh in the list of ‘who-is-who’ of Indian print industry. Here is a brief on this ever young personality, who has spent 34 years of his life amongest student’s community.

Having started his professional career in metal decoration industry for around six years (with Metal Box, Poysha, etc) after completing his diploma in printing from Institute of Printing Technology, Allahabad, Rajesh has travelled a long way to reach today’s remarkable position within Indian graphic arts industry. Instrumental in establishing ‘Department of Printing Technology’ in Pusa Polytechnic offering three-year diploma course, Rajesh feels proud of his very close bonding with approx 1,300 students, out of which many are holding key positions with leading organisations in India and overseas includingThe Times of India, Indian Express, Dainik Bhaskar, Hindustan Times, Dainik Jagran, ITC, and a number of Ad Agencies, etc.

Though, Rajesh who joined the printing institute as a lecturer (junior) and retired at the same post, has no regret at all. Unlike others, he did not go for further formal education, but spent all his time – day and night updating his knowledge by keeping abreast with latest technologies and thereby sharing that knowledge with students, so as to enable them perform confidently in their professions wherever they intend to join. This brought Rajesh utmost satisfaction with great amount of respect. While, he was devoted to printing institute, his association with leading print and packaging organisations in the capacity of honorary consultant was also continuing. Attending seminars in the capacity of speaker, imparting training to group of staff members in Oriental Printing Press in Bahrain, etc have been his recent activities.

Travelling extensively in India and abroad, visiting trade fairs, print and packaging production set ups, Rajesh converys that pleasure too comes by default. Interaction with the industry on regular basis, keeps him up-to-date. With a strong ‘will-power’, this five feet tall industry stalwart is well known in the international graphic arts segment all over the world. Known for his straight forward statements (good or not good), people in the industry do take him seriously as far as his industry knowledge level goes.

Continuing his spirit and taking the ‘print’ beyond his own generation, the very next team of his son Saket and daughter-in-law Vrushali is also engaged in this field. Qualified from Pune Printng Institute, both of them are running a well established printers’ supply business under the name ‘Ink & Print’ (Estd. 1993). Representing top notch companies like Technova, Policrom, DAY and VARN, they have achieved a turnover of Rs 4.8 crore in previous financial year, while this year the target stands as Rs 7.0 crore.

Even Rajesh’s hobbies of collecting stamps and currencies of different countries reflect his love for printing. Besides, he is very easy to be friend and share his vast knowledge.
