Besides a galaxy of machines at the commercial printing unit of GALAXY Offset (India) Pvt Ltd is a brand new Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 which is to be installed at the soon-to-be-unveiled packaging division of this New Delhi-based heavyweight of offset printing. Signing the agreement on the six-colour Heidelberg press, Klaus B Nielsen, managing director, Heidelberg India Pvt Ltd along with the entire team of GALAXY Offset shared some decisive moments with Print & Publishing and unfolded their strategies of the landmark installation of the (package printing) machine.

GALAXY Offset (India) Pvt Ltd is a printing baron whose presence in the commercial printing market of the country has already been spotlighted in a big way. But today, the company is stepping up further to expand its activities into the packaging segment with the adoption of a brand new Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 press, which will be installed in a few months. “We are planning to adopt the new Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102, which is perfectly designed for packaging printing, latest by July-August,” said Vikas Gulati, director, GALAXY Offset (India) Pvt Ltd. GALAXY Offset boasts of its overall print production volume of two lakh sheets a day, which is expected to be magnified following the adoption of the Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102.

Unmatched facilities

What it takes to define the uniqueness of GALAXY Offset would surely be its mammoth commercial printing facility which is equipped with an array of high-end machineries comprising of Heidelberg SM 74 (five-colour), RYOBI 924 (four-colour ), Heidelberg MOS (five-colour and one-colour), Heidelberg CtP Suprasetter 105, Muller Martini Flowline, S&E sewing machine, BOBST folder gluer and others. Clientele of the company consists of a long list of corporate biggies as well as a group of leading ad agencies.

Heidelberg connection

GALAXY Offset has been linked with Heidelberg over the last ten years. “We are happy with the quality outputs of the Heidelberg machines. And also the best part is their service which is always satisfactory,” asserted Vikas. Commenting on unique features of Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102, he quoted the machine as a versatile press compatible with a range of substrates including metallic papers. “This machine is featured with special feature called ‘axis control’, so that the colour bar codes in x and y axis can be read itself to automatically correct the inking.

Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 is an all-rounder for a wide variety of applications. Combining convenient automation with straightforward operation, this machine is benefited from a comprehensive range of standard features that deliver quality, reliability and cost-effectiveness. Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 is available with a choice of 2-6 printing units and an optional coating unit. “We are in the middle of full-swing installations of Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 across the country. So far, we have delivered five machines in north and west,” mentioned Klaus B Nielsen, managing director. He added that this particular machine is in demand in Northern India specially in cities as Delhi, Varanasi and Jalandar where printers seek such comprehensive solutions to suit specific requirements.

What next?

Since GALAXY Offset has set everything in place to install the Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102, the company is planning to augment its existing manpower of 150 well-trained professionals to a new count as packaging tasks require special workforce. Relating to the company’s quality control, Amit Gulati who looks after sales and marketing affirmed that they would concentrate on DRUPA 2012 (Dusseldorf) to find out some software solutions for colour quality and lab setting.

“Of course, we are also looking ahead to DRUPA 2012 where we could facilitate some new investments with the printers.” said Klaus. He further mentioned that DRUPA this year will be a very special edition because it falls in a transition period where the world is now unchained from the clutch of recession and is heading towards new developments.
