  • The first open-house showcasing digital portfolio conducted by Heidelberg India at its PMA, Chennai, results in two instant orders

To make printers aware of the commercial viability of having both offset and digital technologies working together, Heidelberg India Pvt Ltd (a 100 percent subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG) organized an Open House on March 21-22, 2012, inviting printers from all parts of India to come and witness the live demonstration of Ricoh products installed at their Print Media Academy, Chennai. On this occasion, Tetsuya Takano, managing director & CEO, Ricoh India and Klaus Nielsen, managing director, Heidelberg India, did the ceremonial ribbon cutting inaugural of Ricoh C751 digital press as well.

Providing printers a chance to see for themselves the live production of both offset and digital, compare samples and access the benefit of hybrid solutions to their bottom-line, the open house was successful. Printers were also impressed with Heidelberg’s software workflows which connect the entire print-shop equipments seamlessly. The open house showcased the various features of the Ricoh digital printing equipment viz., variable data printing, packaging printing and how digital print quality matched with offset. A print job was printed with Ricoh C751 press and the same was printed in the Heidelberg Speedmaster SM74 press, to compare the print quality.

Impressed with the near-offset quality and productivity of the Ricoh C751, Rajeev Ramakrishnan of Koppara Enterprises (Kerala) signed up for it on the first day of the open house. The second day also resulted in an order for a digital press from Ricoh by yet another reputed printer.

Notably, Heidelberg India Pvt Ltd and Ricoh India Ltd came to an agreement in November last year to enter the phased global rollout of the new Heidelberg and Ricoh strategic cooperation in India following the successful launch in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong. The partnership enables Heidelberg to sell Ricoh’s latest colour digital presses – the RICOH Pro C901 Graphic Arts Edition Series and RICOH Pro C751 series, as part of Heidelberg’s total print solution. Heidelberg India will also sell the Ricoh monochrome production printing product portfolio.
