Herma, a German specialist in production of labels, labeling machines and adhesive materials, has installed fourth HP Indigo 6900 digital press, expanding its capacity for the production of industrial labels. The new HP Indigo press is for monochrome and multi-colour printing as well as for product identification and product feature labels as digital printing is predestined for labels with consecutive numbering or serial numbers that require database-supported management.

Offering a wide range of label options, Herma boasts of working with companies from various industries which include logistics & transport, retail & consumer goods, chemical & pharmaceutical, automotive & electronics and food & beverage applications. In addition to a wide variety of substrates, the displayable colour space of HP Indigo 6900 is a contributing factor for Herma’s investment in the new HP press.

Unique features of HP Indigo 6900 include its spectrophotometer with new HP Indigo patented software that enables spot colour matching as well as rapid automatic correction during production. As a result of the print run, colour management also simplifies the change from conventional to digital printing and vice versa. Moreover, the thin ink application ensures a uniform appearance in the interplay of ink and substrate.

Herna is considered to be the first German company to produce self-adhesive labels in 1951 and it laid the foundation for self-service in the retail trade with its adhesive labels for price labeling.
