It all happened during the recent PRINTPACK INDIA 2022 held at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida! HP Indigo 15K Digital Press found its first owner in India. DN Mitra Lab, a leading photo printer in Ranaghat, West Bengal, placed the order of the high definition digital press during the expo.

As a continuing legacy of Debendra Nath Mitra, an eminent photographer of his time in West Bengal during the 1930s, DN Mitra Lab evolves into various activities like studio photography, outdoor photography, photo printing, lamination, album designing, photo restoration, chemical coating. From time to time the company upgrades its state-of-the-art printing facility with the adoption of the latest printing presses and technologies. As on today, Debendra’s son Somnath Mitra is the leading man behind DN Mitra Lab.

“I have the sense of colour, which may be inherited from my father. So, in the year 2001 we forayed into high-definition photo printing, catering to a host of our customers including photo labs, professional photographers, ad agencies and others. Upgrading our machine portfolio from time to time, we adopted an HP Indigo 5550 Digital Press. We added another Indigo press in 2015. This is how we build up our relationship with HP India,” says Somnath.

He continues, “In addition to our existing two HP Indigo 5550 Digital Presses, we have invested in the latest HP Indigo 15K, which was shown physically in the PRINTPACK INDIA 2022 where visitors were overwhelmed with the unique features and high-definition image quality of the digital press.” Customers of DN Mitra Lab easily figure out the difference in shades and colours of prints churned on the HP Indigo Digital Presses in the company’s colossal production facility of 42000 sq ft.

HP Indigo 100K Digital Press can digitally print higher volumes commercially, offering the world’s most productive B2 digital solution with true digital non-stop print capabilities, at 6,000 sheets per hour. “This press is designed to meet all requirements of our customers. Owning an HP Indigo Digital Press is equivalent to owning multiple presses,” mentions Somnath, adding that their customers are conscious about what this digital press can deliver significantly higher productivity, enabled by the machine’s advanced paper handling and offset-like gripper-to-gripper architecture.

HP Indigo 15K Digital Press brings new quality with high-definition printing. It is equipped with FM screens and a wider range of substrates, with additional options up to 600 microns (24 pt.). New inks include ElectroInks Premium White and Invisible Yellow. “We will be capable to use PANTONE-licensed spot colours with HP Indigo 15K which can also be used and matched to any swatch or colour sample on specific substrates,” says Somnath.

DN Mitra Lab boasts of a network of more than 600 agents and dealers across eastern India. The company recently opened its Kolkata branch too. With the adoption of the new HP Indigo 15K Digital Press, Somnath says they will be more empowered to deliver the best quality prints which their customers always expect from them. In addition, with its robust machine portfolio, DN Mitra Lab is gearing up to expand its network of agents and dealers at pan-India level.
