As a confluence of 411 exhibitors from India and overseas countries staging the latest machines, technologies and services, PRINTPACK INDIA 2015 cheered up everyone around showing the prospects of growth pitching in the Indian printing and packaging domains. Print & Publishing concisely explored this mega print-trade expo, organised by the Indian Printing, Packaging and Allied Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (IPAMA), for a sneak peek of the gamut of marvels and innovations putting up on display, which persuasively pulled a crowd of 85,000 visitors during the five-day showcase at India Expo Centre in Greater Noida, Delhi-NCR. Unveiled by eminent print luminaries from India and overseas, PRINTPACK INDIA 2015 fizzed up fresh intensifications of upgraded machines and technologies in the buzzing parameters of the Indian printing industry. Chief guest Vijay Kumar Chopra, CMD & editor-inchief, Punjab Kesari Group (Jalandhar); YS Komori, president, Komori; Dev Nair, president, AIFMP; Jiangoo Xu, president, PEIAC; Steve Metcalf, director, NPES; Kazuatada Kobayashi, president & CEO, Canon India; Suresh Ramakrishan; Satvinder Singh, general manager, NSIC; Rakesh Kumar, director, IEML; Akira Urakami, chairman, Ryobi Graphic Technology; Jimmy Juneanto, president, Indonesian Master Printers Association; Joan Choa, general secretary, Printing Association of Philippines; KS Khurana, president, IPAMA; and CP Paul, general secretary, IPAMA, all as a team of print dignitaries inaugurated the mega expo. In his inaugural address, KS Khurana heralded that IPAMA has been striving for the betterment of the Indian printing industry ever since the very first edition of PRINTPACK INDIA. He further mentioned that the association keeps indulging into research and development, promotion of quality control and felicitation of foreign investments and JVs. Then he invited all overseas guests at the expo to take part in projects and JVs which ‘Make in India’ offered them.

Machines and technologies updated

Vijay Kumar Chopra lighting the inaugural lamp.PRINTPACK INDIA 2015 was set as a platform where unpacked the latest arrays of updates and developments in machines/technologies with an aim to boost productivity and quality to new standards. A host of leading overseas and domestic manufacturers of acclaimed machines presented their most up-to-date and upgraded machines. Konica Minolta was among the big showstoppers showing the crowd-pulling Jet Varnish 3D UV inkjet printer designed for flat and spot digital UV 3D coating jobs. “Our main mission in the expo is to make aware our customers about Jet Varnish and its competencies in 3D effect printing,” said Yuji Nakata, managing director, Konica Minolta Business Solutions India Pvt Ltd. V Balakrishnan, executive general manager-marketing, marketing division, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Pvt Ltd mentioned the technology as an ideal choice for customisation or personalisation effects in packaging, photo and other related applications.

Canon India hosted a comprehensive combo of capabilities and competencies of its range of Oce Arizona UV printers and DreamLabo 5000. Puneet Datta, director, Professional Printing Products Division, Canon India Pvt Ltd urged those who really like to diversify themselves towards quality and versatility, “Canon is here to scale up everyone’s business in a very cost-effective way.” He signified the perfect potential of Oce Arizona UV printers in package printing, DreamLabo 5000 inkjet photo printer for photo merchandise to high-quality print-ondemand offerings.

Showcase of the line of RICOH machines, such as Pro C751EX, Pro C5110s and others in a complete portfolio, at the stand of its distribution partner Kapoor Imaging impressed the crowd. Anjana Saha, national business & marketing manager, production printing-BU, RICOH India Limited elated to the positive response they received to the RICOH machines on display. In this context, Sunil Kapoor of Kapoor Imaging was pleased to the tie-up and expected boost in business post show. Success story of Rado Packaging Machines at the expo were about the swarm of visitors around the company’s stand where showcased its range of powder extractor systems, fully automatic punch & benders, register pin bar, among others, which are demanded not only in India but at global level. The company received a shower of enquiries and orders to its TY-200 PB optical register punch bending machines. “We are delighted that six deals have been closed during the expo and expecting some inquiries to be converted into business post-show,” shared Puneet Soorma, marketing & sales manager, Rado Packaging Machines Pvt Ltd.

Focus of Muller Martini at the expo was on its Ventura MC 160 thread book sewing machine. On the company’s constant launches and upgrades on all machines, RP Lakshminarayanan, general manager, Muller Martini (India) Private Limited mentioned, “We keep update our machines, some just a little and some with quantum jumps.” Ideally suitable for entry level customers, Ventura MC 160 received huge response from visitors and team Muller Martini, comprising product specialist from the factory, edified both its existing customers as well as visitors during the expo. The company also presented technical knowhow of its flagship mailroom system.

At the stand of Kodak India, concentration was its widely acclaimed Sonora XP processfree plates that eliminate processing and chemistry from plate making process, alongside a line of platesetters, viz. Achieve T400/T800, Trendsetters, among others. Hersh Lulla, deputy manager-marketing, India Cluster-Commercial Imaging, Kodak India Private Limited mentioned that their endeavour is to make everything under the provision of ‘green’ technology.

Newly launched Xerox Color C70 made its first public appearance in the expo. The machine offers widest range of applications with up to 75 percent savings on power. Others on display at the company’s stand included Xerox Versant 2100, Phaser 7800, among others. Balaji Rajagopalan, executive director, Technology, Channels & International Distributor Operations, Xerox India asserted, “We are glad to showcase our newly launched marquee digital presses here. Our Xerox Color C70 offers the widest range of applications in this market space, including running synthetics, vinyls, window clings, carbonless paper, never-tear paper, transfer papers, magnets and many other unique applications that are made possible with Xerox’s low melt toner & flexible paper path.”

At its stand of more than 500 sq m, Line O Matic (renowned manufacturer of fully automatic notebook printing machines), introduced Bold RB104, upgraded version of Nova RB104. Himanshu Shah, asst manager – marketing (international), Line O Matic mentioned that the newly introduced machine has improved ‘automation’ to run at the speed of 500 m/min.

Of the overseas companies pulling crowd during the expo was the Taiwanese company Wen Chyuan Machinery, which is wellknown manufacturer of dry lamination machines for food packaging. The company boasts of its wide installation base in India. “It has been quite some time since we have been present in the Indian market. Here at the expo, we are happy to find a wave of trade visitors and positive enquiries that can be converted into business,” shared Emma Lin, sales director, Wen Chyuan Machinery Co Ltd.

FUJIFILM India showcased its total pressroom solutions and plates. Engineered in a perfect manner to optimise print process to a new standard and add value to any pressroom environment, the company demonstrated the whole gamut of its products in an inspiring approach. Kamlesh Mani Tripathi, national manager-technical support consumables, Graphics Art Division, FUJIFILM India Private Limited remarked a special point about all products the company presented, “A unique or common attribute of FUJIFILM products, unlike other conventional ones, is the eco-friendliness.” Creed Engineers, which emerged with its own brand ‘Vinsak’ a couple of years back, presented its range of printing solutions for labels, finishing, transactional, mailing, brand protection, etc. The company’s product line exclusively included a versatile range of machines from the Dutch company DIGI Press. “But we will come out only under our own brand name ‘Vinsak’ soon,” revealed Neeraj Sharma, executive director, Creed Engineers Pvt Ltd.

Presence of Electro Mec at the expo brought to the showcase of its range of machineries, which include a big combo of binding machines of different formats and configurations. The company boasts of its ten clamp perfect binding machines. When enquired about the new launches, K Mohhamed Ismail, managing director, Electro Mec Machinery Manufacturers (P) Ltd shared that they practically unveiled no new machines during the expo. “Our main motive behind the participation to this trade expo is for brand awareness and letting the industry people know about competencies of our machines,” he added.

Introducing new during the expo, Newstech unpacked its NTPJ-100 Paper Jogger Table, which is equipped with silent vibrator technology and it cost-effectively controls paper alignment faster than any conventional machines. Also introduced at the company’s stand was fully automatic NTCS Cross Strapping Machine designed for newspapers and other applications including magazines, circulars, mail orders, etc. Megtech Systems India did highlight their flagship Flying Splicer (AR 35-1) aiming at newspaper and book printing segments. Big crowd puller on the show floor was Joy D-Zign whose colossal stand showcased a spectrum of its state-of-the-art post-press and allied machineries.

Among the other popular exhibitors showing resourceful line of machines included Precision Graphic Engineers whose Eagle brands of sheet-fed offset presses are also now installed in overseas countries. YP Taneja of Precision Graphic was thrilled to the expo’s footfall and positive feedbacks to the (Eagle 450) press they put up on display. So far, 52 of the company’s Eagle presses have been installed successfully around the world. Others pulling crowd to their exhibited machines and technologies included Insight Communication & Print Solution (distributor of Komori offset presses in India), Pramod Engineering, etc.

Adding windfall values to the showcases of a line of machines during PRINTPACK INDIA 2015 were arrays of consumables and software solutions offered by some of the leading manufacturers from India and overseas countries. In this parameter, providing advanced and unique software system to printing companies for data integration for all departments was ParamERP Solutions. “Our solution helps printing firms create accurate estimation, job cards, inventory for print shop management solutions, etc” briefed Vinod Nawab, director, ParamERP Solutions India Pvt Ltd. He further elaborated that the software system would help in tracking records which in turn can result in wastage control and capacity utilisation.

Manufacturer of a range of inks for packaging and newspaper segments, DIC India highlighted its expertise and product portfolio. DIC boasts of a range of inks for offset, gravure and flexo. “We have carefully engineered our inks considering all critical aspects of printing including special effects,” said Partho Mukherjee of DIC India Limited. He added that the inks are superior in printability and excellent performance on a wide range of substrates. In fact, DIC inks cater excellent and accurate results for the users of colour optimisation software, achieving all round benefits, be it technical or cost effectiveness.

JN Arora & Co, one of the leading names in the industry, presented a whole gamut of machines and consumables at the expo. Being a distributor of Kodak (entire product range including CtP), screen printing machines, special effect UV inks, among other offerings, all accumulated at the company’s stand. Vimlesh Arora, managing director, JN Arora & Co Pvt Ltd expressed jubilance to the positive response to the company’s showcases. And two exclusive highlights at the stand of Webtech Engineering were its versatile web presses and excellence in medical insert printing. Mohd Nehal Islam, director marketing, Webtech Engineering (P) Ltd appreciated the expo for being a perfect platform to interact with the right target customers.

Yet another big consumable provider at the expo was Popli Graphics whose main principle is to provide the industry a wide array of printing material consumables and marketing of machineries with a view to upgrade the industry to the best standard. The company in association with Autoprint Machinery unpacked a complete combo of printing machineries and consumables for those looking for expansion towards up-to-date developments during the expo. Sanjeev Popli, managing director, Popli Graphics Pvt Ltd appreciated the expo as a precise networking place. KG Suresh, joint managing director, Autoprint Machinery Manufacturer felt the same.

3S Graphic Solutions, one of the leading solution providers for digital printing, print finishing and packaging, showcased its print specialties. As a channel partner of HP and Scodix, overall special effects the company delivers are churned on HP Indigo press and carved using Spot UV Coating technology. “Be it any application: packaging, wedding albums, we are equipped with the right technologies and solutions to meet the innovative requirements of the industry,” mentioned SS Saini, CEO, 3S Graphic Solutions.

Colour control—this is what QuadTech conveyed during the expo. “Standardisation in colour is still a cut-off activity in the Indian printing industry. For example, when you print a McDonald’s ad, it is exceedingly important to maintain density/ similarity between the ‘yellow’ in original and printed version or yellows from one copy to another,” explained Sanat Gandhi, manager of sales & service, QuadTech. He added that QuadTech has come up with the science of colour maintenance and they look forward to serving the industry with this approach. Showcased at the company’s stand comprised register control, cut-off control and more. On the similar front, Memory impressively presented its cutting-edge colour registration system, plate bender and punching machine. Other eminent exhibitors showcasing a rage of consumables and other related products were Micro Inks/Huber Group, Q.I. Press Controls, TOYO Inks, among others.

Around web offset domains

Amid the whole gamut of exhibits at the expo were a host of leading web offset manufacturers and allied companies, presenting machines, technologies and related solutions for the newspaper and book printing sectors. Some eminent ones in the pool were manroland India, Manugraph, Pressline India, PRAKASH Web Offset, Naph Graphics, J. Mahabeer and Perfect Rotary who presented not only their products and solutions but also persuasive ideas and provocative thoughts during the five-day PRINTPACK INDIA 2015.

Apart from their extensively acclaimed highspeed web offset machines, manroland India resiliently promoted their range of other products and services under three segments during the expo. First being the services to their web presses that include installation, commissioning, retrofit, upgrade, shifting, press audit and others, which form core strength of the company in India. Secondly, newspaper consumables, which they have been introducing to their customers viz. low cost blankets, etc and the third one is digital solution or digital post-press finishing, indeed a new move of manroland India. “Our foray into digital printing or digital post-press solution means that we have the capability to integrate any inkjet printer into folding and perfect binding process. Everything will be in-line, suitably designed for on-demand book printing,” asserted Pankaj Bhasin, managing director, manroland India Pvt Ltd. For this splendid move, manroland India has closely tied up with leading inkjet printer manufacturers, namely, Kodak, Conon Oce, HP, among others.

Among the eye-catchers was Manugraph, which impressively presented its newly launched Ecoline web offset press of 25,000 cph. About the significant features of the press, PK Bhalla, general manager, Manugraph India Limited said, “Ecoline is designed for the Indian newspaper market. This is a very compact press suitable for small to mid-level newspapers having circulations of up to 80,000 copies.” Since big newspaper houses are now considering to move into tier II or III cities for strategic presence in regional domains, he expects demand for such machine (Ecoline) will be accelerated. “We are now planning to demonstrate this press to some leading newspaper houses post expo,” he mentioned.

PRAKASH Web Offset was yet another presenter of a new milestone of innovations during the expo. Two premium products shown at the company’s massive stand were the heavy duty three-cylinder PRAKASH Sonic Folder (36,000 speed) and SG50 splicer, first-of-its-kind product introduced in the Indian web offset printing market.

Capable to operate 50,000 cph and compatible with all brands of web offset machines, SG50 is designed with two arms turret with highly reliable electric brakes and it does not require any hoist or cart when it comes to lifting new roll from the floor.

Overjoyed to large visitors’ response to the company’s products on display, Saurabh Gupta, director, Prakash Web Offset Pvt Ltd eulogised PRINTPACK INDIA for being a strategic platform to present new development and get to see other development in the industry.

Beaming the spotlight on their indigenously manufactured 4 Colour Satellite over 4 Colour Satellite Tower printing unit with a printing speed of 36,000 cph, J Mahabeer & Company was another crowd puller among the indigenous manufacturers at the expo. “This machine has so far been installed at Gujarat Guardian (Surat) and Punjab Kesari (Delhi) and our presence in the expo is to propagate the values and competencies of the press,” asserted T Chatterjee, general manager, J Mahabeer & Company Pvt Ltd.

He added that they were delighted to find a gush of visitors from different parts of the country.

What it stood out attractively at the stand of Pressline India was its newly launched Silverline web offset press designed with a reduced width for added advantages. Describing the salient features of the stateof- the-art web offset machine, Amit K Sharma, manager marketing, Pressline India Private Limited stated that visitors glued to the added advantages of the newly introduced Silverline. “Newspaper houses now can save huge using this reduced width press. It could be in terms of the cost of blankets, inks, plates and water consumption,” he emphasised. Most of all, this new advancement of the machine will help in increasing production speed.

Among the big launches at the expo was the introduction of Naph Demy Crown web offset press from Naph Graphics. The machine is engineered for dual purposes in different ways. First, it can be used for both newspaper and book printing houses. Pointing to the machine standing in a mammoth size at the company’s stand, Mohit Bansal, assistant director-marketing, Naph Graphics explained, “Naph Demy Crown is kind of a single machine that can get dual outputs —16 page signatures of size 8.75 x 11 inch and 12 page signatures of size 7.5×10 inch.” At present, textbook printers need two different presses to print two very popular textbook sizes (mentioned above), but now the Naph Demy Crown as one single printing unit/tower of 578 mm cut-off can churn both the formats from one source.

Perfect Rotary’s introduction of WEBKING Perfectline at the expo imparted some fresh prospects to the newspaper industry. This four-high press is based on staggered blanket cylinders (S-Wrap) concept wherein the distance between the two printing units has been minimised to ensure accurate colour registration with minimal wastage. The press is capable to print at the maximum speed of 35,000 cph in different cut-offs like 508, 546 and 578 mm. Very much a part and parcel of the web offset domain, Technicon India presented a new concept of newspaper inserter. The company has already been very active in mailroom solutions, specially designed for small to mid print runs. Other manufacturers known for their elegant range of widely acclaimed web offset presses attended by flocks of visitors included Ronald Web Offset, TPH (The Printers House), NBG Printographic, GOSS International, etc.

A few large formats

Bringing fresh opportunities to UV largeformat printing, textile and others for display graphic and packaging printing, exhibitors like FUJIFILM India, Canon India, Esko India, Apsom Infotex, Monotech, Mehta Cad Cam, Keith Electronics and UV Printers unpacked arrays of versatile machines and technologies. Accelerating the ongoing revolution of UV printing in packaging and display graphics FUJIFILM India impressively presented its Equity EY UV flatbed printer, which is capable to handle array of rigid materials up to 48 mm thick and its ‘white ink’ option provides the opportunity to accept high-value rigid materials, such as metal, wood, clear and coloured products. Canon India was another presenter of UV power as the company revealed competence of Oce Arizona line of UV flatbed printers alongside a scale of other related products.

Apsom Infotex set a special spotlight on the company’s range of ColorJet soft signage printers and others including the latest VersaUV LEF-20 table top printer that can print directly on an endless range of substrates and three dimensional objects. “New revolution is now picking up in the textile domain. To the tune, we have introduced a line of versatile textile printers, among which Softjet is worth mentioning,” remarked Ravi Agarwala, director, Apsom Infotex Limited. Shown at the company’s stand were the popular Colorjet Verve true flatbed printer, VersaCAMM VS Series and Colorjet Neptune.

Another eye-catcher in the large-format arena was the stand of Monotech Systems presenting its PixelJet 2512 F-P UV and PixelJet 6060UV LED desktop flatbed printer, which is capable to print gift items, crystal plaques. Mehta Cad Cam Systems launched its indigenously manufactured EVAN fiber laser marking machine (for carving on metals, plastics, silicon, etc). “Also, showing new at the expo from our end is the six feet Thunderjet (A1801S/A1802S), which is 30 percent faster than the existing models,” explained Shailesh Mehta, director, Mehta Cad Cam Systems Pvt Ltd.

UV Printers showcased latest Dilli NEOTITAN series, which is a combo type flatbed/roll to roll printers, capable to run at the maximum speed of 33 sq m/hr on media ranging from coated to uncoated materials in 720×1440 dpi. Kirti Vijay Sharma of UV Printers suggested those who wish to have good quality, high productivity in low cost UV prints to go for this (Dilli NEOTITAN) printer.

Finishing & precision cutting

Post-press finishing machines and technologies found spotlight of recognition in the expo. Esko presented its Kongsberg V Series, reliably modelled cutter for packaging sample production. “Of course, Kongsberg V is designed with a MultiCUT tool head to offer milling productivity and a camera system. It combines all the tool insert options with a milling spindle up to 45 RPM and it can give accuracy to cut sunboard, acrylic and other materials than conventional cutters,” explained Shrihari K Rao, manager, Esko India. Throwing light in unique at the company’s stand was ArtiosCAD software, a leading structural design solution for signage displays and packaging.

Showcasing its range of Graphtec laser machines and cutting plotters, Keith Electronics opened up new opportunities and possibilities in the world of engraving/ cutting. “We have technologically upgraded our machines to new standards to meet the increasing market demands for advanced applications,” explained Raj Chopra, director, Keith Electronics Pvt Ltd. He mentioned that the company’s engraving machines are now designed to perfectly handle die making sampling. Intelligent, efficient and flexible digital S3 M 800 cutter was what Zund India demonstrated attractively at their stand. Ever since its launch in 2012, this high-performance cutting machine has been widely demanded and acclaimed for its precision. Prasanna Venkatesh VA, general manager, Zund India Pvt Ltd said that the machine is designed for an extensive range of applications right from packaging to cutgraphics, leather, textile and many others.

All that observed in fresh prospects in varied arenas around the printing and packaging parameters during the expo indicated a prolific momentum of future growth in the industry. Compared to the previous edition, PRINTPACK INDIA 2015 received an overall 40 percent increase in terms of the number of participants and net show floor areas.

Monotech’s big launch of digital web inkjet press

Big launch of the brand new digital web inkjet machine from Monotech Systems at the expo set a new paradigm as this is the first continuous feed digital press manufactured and introduced by an Indian manufacturer in the industry. Monotech Systems is already in the manufacturing of Pixeljet solvent, ecosolvent, UV flatbed printers, which are now widely adopted across India. “These products are enjoying a huge number of installation base and have been well accepted and appreciated by the customers,” remarked TP Jain, managing director, Monotech Systems. And the newly launched web inkjet press is ideally engineered to print on paper and other media of 40 to 120 gsm at the maximum speed of 150 m/m, handling web width of media ranging from 09-26 inch.

The machine is equipped with water-based inkjet printing inks to deliver a resolution of 600×600 dpi. Talking about the new inkjet press which took them around 18 months to develop, Jimit Mittal of Monotech Systems shared, “Our target customers for this new press include book printers, commercial, as well as transactional printers. Dimensions are many for this printing press and gradually all will be explored. Moreover, this new press is completely customised as per the customers’ choice.” Monotech uses reputed printheads of Konica Minolta, Ricoh and Kyocera, but depends on customers’ demand. Currently the machine is roll-to-roll and company has planned to bring roll-to-sheet version as well.

Biggest ever presence: Marking its biggest ever presence in the expo, Monotech put up on display an array of products in six verticals i.e. pre-press, digital printing, digital enhancement, labels packaging and variable data printing, large-format and engineering systems. In the prepress segment, Amsky Ausetter 800 Flexo CtP was displayed for the first time at the expo, keeping the packaging industry in mind. Also, on the display was HGDE UC CtP system. In cut sheet segment were the newly launched Konica Minolta C1100/1085 heavy duty digital colour print production system along with Konica Minolta C1070/1060 (introduced last year) and Konica Minolta 1052/1250 (monochrome). Having been a premium partner of Konica Minolta and recognised as ‘Best Partner of the Year’ for the last three consecutive years, Monotech has so far installed more than 950 Konica Minolta presses across India.

In digital enhancement, Scodix S75 Rainbow digital enhancement press was centre of attraction at the expo. Monotech Systems enjoys the success of Scodix with more than 15 installations across India. In the segment, the company also presented Process Metallic Color System from Color Logic and BOPP lamination films from Derprosa (Spain). Also on display was JetSci VSRI variable data printing and camera inspection system, which was launched in Label Expo India 2014 and picking up popularity in the market. In addition, a sample gallery of Highcon, Digital Cutting and Creasing Machine and EFI Digital Colour Label Press at the company’s stand captured visitors’ attention and generated interests.

Recently launched Pixeljet 3060 UV LED Desktop Flatbed printer, offering option to print white and color printing simultaneously, was also an attention puller at Monotech’s stand. Apart from this, well appreciated Pixeljet 1212FP UV flatbed printer was on display. In the engineering systems, Oce Plotwave 340, Canon iPF 6410SE and Monotech Print, Copy, Scan Multi-Function System was on display. Gurvinder Singh, director-sales & marketing said, “This has been a very successful exposition for us. We have booked around 16 machines from different product range along with very good enquiries that we hope to close soon.

Vita range of products & rubber roller from Boettcher

Impressed with all new and innovative products putting up on display, buzzing crowd around the stand of Boettcher Systems at the PRINTPACK INDIA 2015 drew their intense attention to the company’s Vita range of products for packaging printing, which were remarkably introduced during the expo.

“In today’s competitive market, it’s quite important to make end products distinctive and set apart from competitors. Keeping this in mind, our Vita products are introduced for high-quality packaging printing,” remarked Prabhat Kumar, product & marketing manager, Boettcher (India) Pvt Ltd.

Newly launched Vita range of products are engineered cost effectively and designed for manufacturers striving for optimised cost of production at local or regional levels, but in full control over brand integrity and global quality standards. These new products meet the test criteria of machine manufacturers and approved by ISEGA, an independent testing and certification institute in Germany with the capacity for analytical works in packaging materials, pulps, papers, boards, colours, additives and others.

Also presented at the stand of Boettcher Systems during the expo were the company’s press roller technologies, Flex sleeves & other printing chemicals. The newspaper industry across the world trusts the company’s advanced rubber compounds known for producing superior prints and capable to run longer without frequent roller adjustments. “We have been closely associated with a number of leading newspapers like The Times of India, Hindustan Times, Dainik Bhaskar and many at regional arenas, such as Dinakaran, Anand Bazar Patrika and Dinamalar, supplying them rubber rollers including chemical, etc,” mentioned Prabhat.

Dirk Odenbrett, director, Boettcher, present during the exhibition, enthused with the response and was personally sharing about new development in Rubber technology and India Roller Production Plant benefit with visitors. Also spotted at the stand of Boettcher during the expo was VS Narayanan, general manager-technical, Dinamalar ordering rubber rollers. “The newly ordered Boettcher rubber roller will be featured in our Manugraph web press,” Narayanan said. He further mentioned that innovations as well as newspaper circulations in the country are now increasing. On the current debate on the fate of printed newspapers, VS Narayanan opined that there is still demand for physical dailies at provincial arenas in India and it will be both innovations in printing and strong editorial contents that would give newspapers further survival.

Along with the newspaper customers, a lot of enthusiasm was seen in packaging customers about the new development (Vita range) at the Boettcher stand. Some of the prominent players of the packaging industry from all over India, like Manipal Group, TCPL, Parksons Packaging, Temple Packaging, HBD Packaging, etc dropped in at the company’s stand.

With regional branch offices in major Indian cities, Boettcher has its marketing office in Gurgaon and warehouse in Faridabad. The company has constantly been spiralling activities and new products ever since its India presence in 2005.

‘Together We Grow’

IPAMA in collaboration with Vibes Academy organised firstof- its-kind seminar and conference titled ‘Together We Grow’ on the third day of the expo. The series of presentations from the industry experts covered all technical, management and business aspects of web offset printing in India.

Moderated by MK Nandakumar, founder, Vibes Academy, speakers in different sessions of the event emphasised on the importance of quality, research, innovation, selfreliance and service excellence at a crucial juncture in the industry.

Among the galaxy of speakers, VS Raja of Hindustan Times stressed on the roles played by vendors in boosting success of both manufacturers and printers. He shared management techniques in selection, integration, training and development of vendors. Pradeep Uni of Amar Ujala spoke about what end users (newspapers) in India expect from machine manufacturers. In his discourse, he related to defect-free products, automation, performance assurance, etc. In the similar note, Deepankar Bhattacharya of The Times of India narrated the ways to manage between conventional and proven management techniques to derive more values from resources. Steve Metcalf of Air Motion Systems Inc addressed about the aspects of UV-LED technology. He urged the industry leader to go for the technology producing no heat, no pollution, less lead time and longer life. In another session, Vijay Pandya of Q.I. Press Controls India spoke about the importance of sustained post-sale relationship between manufacturers and printers for a mutual growth.

The concluding part of the seminar and symposium was a panel discussion in which Sunil Mehta of Mitsubishi India, Lal Jayawardene of Wijaya Publication (Colombo), VS Raja of Hindustan Times and KR Chandrahas of Pressline India reflected on the confidence which Indian manufacturers must build up to tackle up the challenges emerged out of the positive nods of overseas manufacturers to the calls for ‘Make in India’ projects.

Life time Achievement Awards conferred

During PRINTPACKA INDIA 2015, IPAMA presented ‘Life Time Achievement Awards’ to the following personalities: SM Shah, chairman, Manugraph India Ltd; VK Dhir, director, Perfect Rotary Offset Pvt Ltd; TR Mahajan, Indo Poly Machines Corporation; Ranjeet Singh Khurana, partner, Deluxe Printing Machinery Co; and CP Dahra, Dahara Engineering Company.
