Romance with the print!

Romancing Print is celebrated by AIFMP every year on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sir Johannes Gutenberg also known as the ‘Printers Day’ in India. This edition of Romancing Print had many firsts to its credit. Romancing Print 2015 was organised by the All India Federation of Master Printers in association with the Department of Printing, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar on February 24-25, 2015. This year, Romancing Print was different in many ways, first it was organised at a remote location – Hisar, second under this brand, this time first ever International Research Conference on 21st Century Printing was organised and the third it was again for the first time that a conference compendium was published by AIFMP containing the research papers from the students and printers in printing in India.

The inauguration

Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, the hon’ble governor of Haryana was the chief guest of the event, who also inaugurated the “Digital Print Application Laboratory” established for the students of printing by the RICOH India Limited at the Department of Printing Technology of the University. This lab costing more than Rs 1.5 crore is a boon for the students of printing.

Presenting his vote of thanks, Kamal Chopra, chairman, International Relations, AIFMP invited the team of twelve students on stage who worked hard for the success of this event and requested hon’ble governor Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki to present the mementos to them.

Technical sessions…

Technical sessions were held on both days. Some of the speakers included Zhang Zhicheng; Prof Wang Yongsheng, vice-chancellor Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication; Beatrice Klause, general secretary Intergraf; Akshay V Joshi, professor PVG, Pune; Kiran Priyagi; Bijender Kaushik, assistant professor, GJUS&T, Hisar.

Valedictory session…

Dheera Khandelwal, IAS was the chief guest for the valediction session. On the persuasion of Kamal Chopra, chairman International Relations AIFMP, Yan Chen, the deputy president of the China Cultural Industry Development (Group) Corporation assured booking for 2,000 sq/m of exhibitor space from the Chinese manufacturers for AIFMP’s flagship show, Pamex 2015, in Mumbai.

On the initiative of Kamal Chopra Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication (BIGC) and GJUS&T signed an MoU for student/ teacher exchange programme. Chopra persuaded the vice chancellor of BIGC to announce free higher education for one brilliant student of printing at Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, China.

Kamal Chopra also announced that out of the research papers submitted by students, teachers and expert speakers, the best two papers will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 each by the NIPA Educational Trust.

At this session, conference director Anjan Kumar Baral expressed his gratitude to all the guests; industry professionals and other delegates.
