Ricoh India@ Print Expo, Chennai

Chennai has been the hub of traditional printing in India; the place where Heidelberg India and almost half of the offset equipment and CTP companies or their partners are based. At the recently concluded Print Expo 2016 in Chennai (August 12-14, 2016), visitors were amazed to see that most of the large setups were from digital companies.

Leading digital printer manufacturer Ricoh India successfully participated in Print Expo 2016. Their booth got overwhelming response & almost 600+ visitors all across the country visited the Ricoh stall. Customers from different part of Southern India – Vizag, Tiruchy, Kerala, Puducherry, Coimbatore, Madurai, Calicut, Salem and Tirupur had visited Ricoh stall.

Various applications were showcased in different product segments. For the first time in south region, they exhibited the high end colour production printer Ricoh Pro C9100x and booked good number of orders. The machine offers speeds of up to 110ppm and 130ppm can be achieved, regardless of paper weight. It can support media up to 400gsm and a powerful vacuum feed keeps media flowing, with lower down time and easy jam clear. It can print an image quality up to 1200 x 4800 dpi

For mid level segment, they showcased Ricoh Pro C7100x cutsheet printer which has a new 5th colour station, including clear gloss and white toner offering new applications and delivering a premium finish. It can printer at a speed of up to 90 pages per minute. It is capable of producing optimum quality up to 1200 x 4800 dpi, achieved with Ricoh’s enhanced Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (or ‘VCSEL’) technology.

Also showcased were software solutions while in the wide format segment, MP W7100 was displayed. The W7100/W8140 includes a print preview feature, so you can check thumbnail images and make sure you're printing the right files the first time. At 10/14 prints per minute, you can finish the job in no time.

New vice president for Canon India Pvt Ltd

Canon India Pvt. Ltd has recently appointed Eddie Udagawa as the new vice president of the company, further strengthening its senior leadership team. Udagawa, in his new capacity, will be leading the Consumer Imaging and Information Centre (CII) division. The Consumer Imaging and Information Centre (CII) embraces both Consumer Systems Products (CSP) for laser and inkjet printers and Image Communication Products (ICP) for camera products. The CSP division offers printers for consumers as well as enterprise across different verticals. And, the ICP division mainly works around the sale and positioning of DSLR cameras & lenses, high functionality compact cameras and professional video cameras.

As the Head of the CII division, Udagawa will be responsible for the supervision and development of the Canon Imaging Communications Products (ICP) business and Consumer System Products (CSP) business in India. He undertakes the position with the vision to escalate the market share and strategize growth plans to take Canon India to new heights.

Associated with Canon for over 31 years now, he has worked closely with various overseas markets. His predecessor, Andrew Koh will be taking over the Malaysian market as the president and CEO, Canon Malaysia. He has spent valuable 4 years in India to strengthen the CII business unit.

Digital workhorse from Konica Minolta creates ripples

Konica Minolta, known for its quality and reliability in digital printing technology, offers a versatile product portfolio, which includes bizhub PRO 1100, which outperforms in all business environments.

The bizhub PRO 1100 series is a workhorse monochrome digital printing press, ideal for central in-house printing departments, external print-for-pay services, education, government agencies and high volume statements and bills printing. The bizhub PRO 1100 possesses the reliability and precision required of on-demand printing systems. At the same time, its refined operability increases productivity in a variety of applications, from professional use (printing companies) to centralized reprographics departments.

Featuring a fast, highproductivity system for a quick turnaround of large jobs, the bizhub PRO 1100 is capable of printing 100 pages per minute (ppm) with high print quality of up to 1,200 dots per inch (dpi). The machine can handle expected average volumes of between 150,000 and 300,000 prints and peaks up to 2.2 million black and white prints per month. This puts the printer at the top tier range of LPPs in the market for an entry level price.

In addition, bizhub PRO 1100 comes equipped with a simultaneous double-sided colour scanning technology able to scan up to speeds of 180 opm (originals per minute). Since it supports the bizhub OP (Open Platform) open platform technology, it allows the use of third-party applications for accounting, authentication or scan-routing applications.

Konica Minolta launches Bizhub Pro 1100

Konica Minolta launched monochrom e printer Bizhub Pro 1100 in the 9th edition of N Printech & N Packtech 2016 (Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai, April 22-24, 2016). The Bizhub PRO 1100 delivers real value to your print production environment: highspeed 100 ppm B&W output, high paper and toner capacity, standard built-in print controller and a compact footprint to save space on your production floor. With a maximum paper capacity of 9,000 sheets in five cassettes and the new bypass tray MB-507, the monochrome printer is well equipped for any high-volume job, and even extensive mixed-media jobs can be handled easily.

The company also showcased its flagship models Bizhub Press C1060 and C1085. The Bizhub Press C1060 is a multi-Role Digital Presses designed to accomplish a wider range of printing missions at higher standards for the next level of success for print providers; while the Bizhub Press C1085 has a high level of paper compatibility, making it possible to reduce damage to paper.

Tasveer Kendra, a name that has been synonymous with photography for a long time, was founded by Kanti Naik in 1948. His sons, Krushan and Kavin Naik, joined the business in 1979 handling numerous videography and photography orders across Western India. Its latest acquisition is the Xeikon 8500 Digital Press that enables the company to produce 20-inch-wide printing of any length, once again setting itself apart in the marketplace. The 39 ft/minute, 1200x3600 dpi with 4 bit variable dot density press has an imaging width of 504 mm (19.8 inches) and can handle monthly duty cycles of up to 5 million pages. It can produce a range of applications such as brochures, posters, leaflets, catalogs, packaging and direct mail on a variety of substrates from 40gsm to 350gsm.
