Printpack India 2013 formally launched

As always the 11th Printpack India, scheduled to be held during Feb 23-28, 2013, was formally launched with the first promotional meet in Amritsar, one of the holy cities in the country. Organized by Indian Printing, Packaging and Allied Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (IPAMA), the Printpack India has emerged as an internationally renowned exhibition over the years, providing an appropriate platform for not only domestic print machinery manufacturers, but various global industry majors. Addressing over 85 attendees at this promotional meet for the show on April 11, 2012, the organizers enumerated the new highlighted features of the event, encouraging all to effectively participate and grab the opportunities through this exhibition.

On the occasion, TR Mahajan invited all dignitaries to the dais by introducing them briefly. Later he handed over the mike to NS Manku, immediate past president of IPAMA. Addressing the august gathering, Manku informed, “So far Printpack India show was being jointly organised by ITPO and IPAMA, but the upcoming Printpack India shall be organised solely by IPAMA. The previous event in the year 2011 succeeded to mark 18,500 sq m covered area, with 417 exhibitors, attracting over 50,000 visitors, and we are expecting this time equally good numbers at the new exhibition venue in Greater Noida.”

Highlighting features of the new venue, Sudeep Sarcar, general manager, India Expo Center & Mart mentioned that located on 58 acre of land, India Expo Center & Mart provides world class infrastructure facilities for exhibitors as well as visitors. There are eight halls of 4,000 sq m area each, with further open space for hangers. For the comfort of all participants/visitors, nearby the expo centre, around 3,804 hotel rooms (including 2,000 service apartments) are available ranging from budget category (Rs 750 onwards) to five star hotels.

“Shifting Printpack India out of Pragati Maidan for the first time will enable us to offer different types of incentives to the IPAMA members on various accounts, viz, members prior to April 01, 2002 till date shall get 15 percent discount, members since April 01, 2002 till date shall be given 10 percent discount and members since April 01, 2007 till date shall be provided 05 percent discount. Also, the new members will be eligible for discounted rate of five percent, provided they fulfill prescribed terms and conditions,” stated CP Paul, general secretary, IPAMA. “With Printpack India 2013, offering a bare space at Rs 7,200 psm makes it the most economical exhibition in India to participate. Even those visitors who go for online registration, shall also be incentivized,” he added. As a word of caution Paul underlined that manufacturers should preferably be participating in well established exhibitions.

Calling all Indian machinery manufacturers to participate in the upcoming event in a big way, KS Khurana, president of IPAMA emphasized on the importance of brand ‘Printpack India’, recognized by international organizations. As per the president, “It is a matter of pride that all manufacturers in Amritsar are doing very well and keeping themselves busy, but Printpack India will enable the participants to demonstrate their products to thousands of visitors in one go.” He assured the prospective exhibitors that the newly formed exhibition committee will be helping them by all means.

Pritam Singh Kalsi, president, Amritsar Printers and Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association, speaking on the occasion mentioned that it’s a matter of pride that one of their members from Amritsar has risen to the post of president of IPAMA. He wished KS Khurana to take the association to newer heights.

In the Q&A session, CP Paul informed that the promotional activities for this event will be taken up very vigorously through press advertising, hoardings, radio, social network, etc. A dedicated website is also being developed to keep everyone update about its activities. Adding further he confirmed that prior to formal launch of Printpack India 2013, they have received booking of around 2,000 sq m space coming from 12 manufacturers.

Later, Satish Bajwa, vice president (north), IPAMA presented vote of thanks.

Top 30 exhibitors reserve locations for Ipex

At Ipex 2014, to take place at London’s ExCeL International Exhibition and Conference Centre from March 26-April 02, 2014, the leading offset press manufacturer Heidelberg commits their presence. As per the Informa Print Group announcement, Heidelberg will be located in ExCeL’s largest hall—the Auditorium—matching the company’s footprint at Ipex 2010 and securing it the dominant position in the exhibition’s offset litho and ancillary sector.

“We are delighted with the ringing endorsement of Ipex 2014 from a major manufacturer such as Heidelberg,” says Trevor Crawford, director of the Informa Print Group, who adds that many other leading suppliers share Heidelberg’s enthusiasm. “We’ve had an extremely positive reaction from the top 30 exhibitors, all of whom have reserved space. They include other major press manufacturers, who will occupy substantial stands in the Capital hall located opposite the Auditorium. A registration process for all Ipex 2010 exhibitors is also under way, enabling them to secure their locations as soon as possible at what promises to be a game-changing Ipex. The level of confirmed support is so strong that we’ll be able to release floor plans early in the New Year.”

As further evidence of exhibitors’ interest Crawford cites the fact that Informa is currently hosting an average of three tours of the ExCeL venue each week. “To meet the unprecedented demand—and demonstrate ExCeL under ‘live conditions—we’ll also hold open days during January to coincide with major ExCeL events, starting with the London Boat Show on the 10th. These will be followed by further events in February, March and April, in the run-up to drupa.”

ISD 2012 gets set to discover new prospects

LiveExperience Zones expanding with three ‘new’ activities

Second edition of India Sign + Digital (ISD) is yet another chance to discover fresh business prospects in the Indian signage and digital markets. To be organised from October 29-31, 2012 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, SS Events resuscitates the expo into a new avatar to bring on stage an ample range of innovative products, technologies and services in a broader scope. Attributed as a unique feature of ISD, LiveExperience Zones at the expo set an absolute platform where visitors could experience various activities first hand. The zone area is going to be loomed bigger this year as three more ‘live’ activities will be the added attractions! Maiden edition of India Sign + Digital (ISD) last year underlined the visible aspects of growth surging across the country’s contemporary signage and digital industry. ‘Something for Everyone’ was the theme under which the expo showcased a wide range of products, technologies and services which gratified the need of every visitor. Over 85 prominent exhibitors showcased the upcoming ultra-innovative trends on the exhibition floor of 5,500 sq m. A crowd of more than 8,500 industry professionals from all across the country thronged the three-day expo.

Reasons for visit

There are specific reasons why visitors attending the ISD last year overwhelmed with the expo’s unique exhibits. Visitors came to the expo to evaluate and compare products for purchases. Also, they could keep themselves up-to-date on trends and issues sprouting in the contemporary market. The expo set as a right spot to observe specific range of products and meet specific companies engaged in diverse signage activities. It also formed a network where industry peers and vendors could meet and discuss on new applications.

Concerning the nature of crowd gathered at the ISD, Vineet Arora of Crayon Advertising, New Delhi said, “The show attracted serious trade visitors from the industry. I am amazed to see the whole of corporate world attending the show. I met people from corporate like Phillips, Tata Motors, etc.” Stressing on the focused crowd visiting the expo, Rajesh Taneja of Printing Palace, Bareilly admitted that ISD expo got the right presentation, which was meant for a well-defined target group.

Expanded zones

Drawing inspiration from the variants of ‘Seven Notes’ of music, ISD 2012 is offering expanded LiveExperience Zones with some new features in it. ScreenExpression Zone, CeramicPrint Zone and NarrowFormat Zone will be three new additional zones adding to the previous WallArt Zone, Wrapper Zone, TextileTemptation Zone and Events&Show Zone. The seven LiveExperience Zones will elaborately showcase various activities, such as screen print excellence, customised ceramic printing, digital print capabilities, vehicle wrap and applications, wall covering, textile printing and event graphics like neon lights, LED displays, etc.

The newly introduced ScreenExpression Zone would demonstrate the expanding possibilities of screen printing, which redefines a wider scope of the technology for newer revenue streams. Showing today’s preferred choices for customised bath, kitchen and other applications will be a new fascination at the CeramicPrint Zone. Quite a fresh entry into the show, NarrowFormat Zone would give a highlight of print-on-demand digital printing for photo books, labels, event collaterals, etc.

Life like demos at the LiveExperience Zones outperform anything carried out virtually or online. So was the reason the live zones easily capture the attention of visitors. And these experience zones are set to be the right corner where visitors could effectively interact with those creators face-to-face.

On displays

One of the fast emerging premier signage expos in India, ISD creates room for a broad array of products, technologies and services of a crowd of eminent exhibitors from different parameters of the industry. Such versatile participation of diverse companies makes the exhibits a myriad of everything in signage. Now a highlight of the materials, services and other items at the expo this year would include: large-format digital printers, CNC routers, print substrates, vinyl, plotters/cutters, print finishing equipments, digital signage, A-boards/pavement displays, anti-graffiti/bacterial signage, cut/moulded/built-up letters, exterior signage, finished sign systems, flex-face signage, floor-graphic signage, heat transfer, sublimation, labels/decals, POS/displays, software, to mention a few.

Visiting crowd

Visitors from different segments thronged the three-day ISD ’11 expo. Major visitors from the north Indian cities and town (48%) were succeeded by those rushed from south India (15%). Also, those from west India comprised a big turnout (13%) and even visitors from the overseas (4%) were quite noticeable amid the crowd. It has been assured that almost 90 percent of the visitors would be turning out to be decision makers at the expo this year.

The 23 key market segments wherefrom the relevant visitors would be pouring in at the expo this year will be ad agencies, architects, automobile accessories dealers, commercial printers, copy shops/repro houses, corporate/business signage and print users, designers/design studios, digital printing, education sector, exhibition/event organisers, facilities management, graphic outputs, lifestyle/events signage and print users, local authorities/government departments, outdoor media, photo studios, POS, reprographic departments, retailers, screen, boutiques, customised textile printing, sign making and transportation/fleet service providers.

Growing opportunity

India is now on the lookout for fresh innovations in sign and graphics technologies. Being a home to more than 12,500 sign makers minting a turnover of Rs 5,700 crore with over Rs 3,750 crore capital investment and around 3,95,000 employed manpower directly/indirectly, industry sources reveal that the Indian large-format market is now standing at around 995 million euro and OOH segment (ad spending) will attain 400 million euro. In addition, opening up of FDI in the retail sector in the country will bring a sunshine opportunity to the industry.
