-Bharat Photostat offers innovative tags and labels for the garment industry with the installation of Xerox CP 1000i Bharat Photostat is making quite an uproar after the installation of Xerox CP1000i, which has been their key growth driver. “With this new installation, we have further intensified our operations for the garment industry. We use the machine to make the tags and labels look more lucrative and visible. I believe that with such baby steps, we’ll soon be able to carve a niche for ourselves in this flourishing market,” tells Abhishek Nangia, MD, Bharat Photostat.

On asking about the features of Xerox CP 1000i which attracted him, Abhishek replied, “I have always aspired to own a machine like the Xerox ColorPress 1000i and today it undoubtedly is my dream project since it provides my company a creative and competitive edge in the market. The sheer fact that the machine has an additional option of the 5th colour: Gold or Silver and the fact that Xerox is the pioneer in offering Metallic Gold or Silver Dry ink at rated speed eased the process of purchase for me.”

Creativity, finish and the print quality together make the product stand out. “Since we planned to delve deeper into the garments label industry, the function of an optional Specialty Dry Ink Station that enhances documents with metallic gold or silver dry inks or applies spot or flood creative effects with clear dry ink really attracted me. To sum it up, the 5th colour option, the gloss finish and the quality of print are the features that clearly distinguish this press from others in the market. I am happy I made this decision since I’m reaping huge benefits post its use,” he adds confidently.

New applications…

“Our experience with Xerox machines has been great always and we are extremely pleased with the performance of the CP1000i on both, quality as well as quantity parameters. It has helped us in increasing our efficiency with a massive surge in our productivity and has simultaneously reduced running costs by 40%. We aim to exploit the unique and outstanding features to capture a larger share of the label printing market and widen our printing mediums as well as target audience,” tells Abhishek.

On asking about the new applications on the machine, he replies, “I am making complete use of all the impeccable features of CP1000i installed in my facility. With its capability to convert lucrative foil stamping applications, such as invitations, certificates and business cards to short-run, high-value digital production I use it for mostly all my high-end printing jobs. From the perspective of tags, labels, books and catalogue printing, its multi-pass printing with clear ink adds an extra textural feel combined with the hint of the silver and gold inks act as a key differentiator.”

The roots…

“Bharat Photostat was established by my father, SK Nangia, in 1994. We were initially into export business of threads but soon ventured in photocopying, when we imported a Toshiba photocopy telefax machine to meet the Photostat and fax demand of our customers. I joined the business in 1998, when Bharat Photostat made digital printing its key focus area and since then we have been heavily investing into digital presses,” tells Abhishek.

The facility…

“Our 2200 sq ft shop floor houses a fully equipped post-press facility which is capable of meeting any kind of demand, producing over 15,000 prints per day. We have total staff strength of around 20 people, including three in-house designers to correct and develop designs and runners for delivery,” tells Abhishek.

Relationship with Xerox…

“Xerox has always been more than just a manufacturer for us. It has been a key partner, more like family to Bharat Photostat. Our relationship dates back to our first ever digital machine which was the Xerox DocuColor 12. The machine served us for good six years and provided the perfect launch pad to expand our operations in the digital arena. The next Xerox machine which we added was the Xerox Sapida which helped us in growing 20 times. Xerox too treats us like family and organizes special training sessions to boost our productivity and profitability. We very often get realistic trainings from Xerox as well as other OEM engineers and so I can proudly say that Xerox has been and will continue to be our trusted partner and their sales and service support is amongst the best in the industry,” he adds.

The clientele…

“Our principal clientele are primarily walk-ins and the key market segments we cater to include the likes of export houses, jewellers, restaurants and garments industry,” he adds. “We primarily focus on the northern markets, residing in Delhi NCR and our principal clientele are mostly walk-ins.”

Road ahead…

“I believe that soon we will receive more orders for garment tag and label printing especially requiring metallic colours. In fact we have seen instances where customers were so impressed with metallic print that they enormously increased the volume in our subsequent orders,” shares Abhishek optimistically.
