tells Balaji Rajagopalan, executive director, Technology & Channels and International Distributor Operations, Xerox India, in conversation with Varsha Verma.

Xerox recently organised a road show in Delhi, where customers could take a peek at the newly launched Xerox Versant 2100. According to Balaji Rajagopalan, executive director, Technology & Channels and International Distributor Operations, Xerox Versant is going to make a change in the market. Balaji has been with Xerox for last 32 years, working in various capacities in engineering and launching products. He has also been a Six Sigma specialist in India and has been instrumental in developing overseas market of Middle East, Africa and Israel. For the last six years, he had been associated with customer service, logistics and supply chain and very recently, has been promoted to take care of the Technology & Channels and International Distributor Operations. Balaji segregates market into two major segments – technology and channel and global distribution. “Technology and channel is an indirect channel wherein we work through channel partners in India which accounts for 70 percent of our business,” he shared, adding, “We have a wide range of machines which cut across all requirements, from low-end machines to highend production machines. It is really a matter of pride to state that 60 percent of our business comes from repeat customers and this is because we provide end-to-end support.”

Balaji Rajagopalan with Versant 2100Talking about the various applications on Xerox machines, Balaji informed that their mono-colour machines are used for variable transactional printing, book publishing, etc. “In book publishing segment, the trend has changed from print and distribute to distribute and print. This is because the product life cycle has changed,” he added further.

As far as the colour machines are concerned, these machines are used for variable print applications like school ID cards, personalised calendars, photo panorama, etc. “This has been possible due to the capability of the machines to print on a variety of media of different grammages,” he told.

Xerox Versant 2100 The newly launched Xerox Versant 2100 created a lot of interest among visitors to road show. “Xerox Versant 2100 Press Production Accurate Registration, or PAR, delivers more performance by making precise image registration easier than ever—from page to page and from run to run. It can handle a wide range (52 to 350 gsm) of media—coated and uncoated papers, bright papers, etc. The machine can print labels, business cards, glossy brochures, window decals, durable/synthetic papers, greeting cards, tabs, embossed, and custom solutions as well,” told Balaji.

“Xerox is an organisation known to provide best in class products and service and Versant is a stepping stone in this direction to enable more production, efficiency and effectiveness. It is an ideal machine for print shops, photolabs, GC (graphic communications) customers and offset printers diversifying into digital printing,” concluded Balaji.
