Mendiratta retires

BD Mendiratta, an educationist in the field of printing, publishing and packaging technology has retired on April 30, 2011 as HOD (Printing Technology) from Department of Printing Technology, Pusa Polytechnic, New Delhi after teaching and administering for more than 30 years. He also served as principal in various polytechnics of Govt of NCT of Delhi.

A Gold Medalist of 1967 batch from NR Institute of Printing Technology, Allahabad, Mendiratta graduated in Printing Technology in 1974 from Technical University, Chemnitz, Germany. He spent over nine years in various capacities in Thomson Press (I) Ltd, National Institute of Design, ITDC, Bureau of Indian Standards, Printing Division of KCT Group, etc. Throughout his carrier in the printing industry, Mendiratta authored five books and written a number of articles in Indian and foreign magazines.

Mendiratta had been member of judging committee for 25 National Awards for Excellence in Printing & Designing, Govt of India and Delhi Printers’ Association (DPA). He has also been a technical expert of selection committees for recruitment in various Govt organizations and Public Service Commissions. In the year 2009 he was conferred with an award of ‘Mudran Shree’ by Printing Technologists’ Association in recognition of his invaluable services and contribution for the development of printing industry in India.
