Komori Enthrone 29 awarded

Marking a new milestone, Komori Corporation recently announced that the Enthrone 29 has received the Special Jury Prize of the prestigious Industrial Machine Design Awards, which recognizes the development of industrial design in Japan. The company introduced the Enthrone 29 in May 2010 and the press has won a solid reputation in global markets. It is a press that embodies the high print quality and leading-edge technologies that have become synonymous with Komori. Concentrating basic performance, the Enthrone’s ergonomic stepless operator-side design and small footprint allow it to fit easily in any confined installation space. Emblematic of the Enthrone 29’s full arsenal of functions, the press employs an array of double-size impression and transfer cylinders to ensure consistent print quality and excellent performance on short runs of a diverse work mix. Accommodating sheet thicknesses of 0.04 mm to 0.6 mm, the press dramatically shortens the time required for changeover between light and heavy stocks because no gripper pad adjustment is necessary when changing sheet thickness. The Enthrone 29, in short, enables working efficiencies that result in highly profitable operation.

The ‘Presentation Ceremony of these 41st Design Awards’ was held in Tokyo on July 26. Attending from Komori were officers of the corporation, Tsukuba Plant deputy plant director Niitsuma, Hirose, who was in charge of the development of the Enthrone 29, and manager Yoshikawa of the sales promotion department. The various selected products were projected onto the screen at the venue, and the Enthrone 29 was the first winner of the Special Jury Prize to be introduced. Also in the past, Komori won various awards in this competition, including: MITI Minister Award for Sprint (in 1972), Japan Society of Industrial Machinery Manufacturers Award for Lithrone 40 (1982), Special Jury Prize for Sprint II (1994), METI Minister Award for Lithrone S40 (2002), METI Minister Award for System 35S (2004), and Japan Society of Industrial Machinery Manufacturers Award for Lithrone S26/S29 (2006). Komori is further determined to conduct more new product development that may be worthy of this prize in the future.
