Sain Packaging, a leading pharma-packaging company based out of Sonepat in Haryana, has upgraded its state-of-the-art production facility with the installation of a brand new Heidelberg Speedmaster CS 92 5-colour press with inline coater. The company adopts the high-end Heidelberg press mainly to enhance its overall print quality, wastage as well as meeting on-time deliveries.

We are excited to invest in the future-ready Heidelberg Speedmaster CS 92-5+L, to drive meaningful value to our growing client base in major Indian cities. The Speedmaster CS 92 is validation of Heidelberg’s relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation, powered by world-class technology,” states Sachin Gupta, Managing Director of Sain Packaging – a long-time Heidelberg customer.

Designed for high productivity and shorter make-readies, the unique 37’’ format Heidelberg Speedmaster CS 92 generates 20 percent plate savings vs traditional 40’’ equipment – a key competitive differentiation.

“We specialise in pharma packaging that constitutes more than 90 percent of present business. The CS 92 is an ideal fit into our modus operandi, thanks to its 25 X 37 inch format that will help optimize waste management. With the CS 92, we expect to save around INR 1.5 lakhs in plate costs,” adds Sachin.

Equipped with printing speeds of up to 15,000 sheets per hour, the CS 92 handles a broad spectrum of print substrates with thickness varying between 0.03 mm and 0.6 mm (0.0012 inches to 0.024 inches). In addition to the classic 16-page A4 format, the Speedmaster CS 92 allows for the use of additional imposition layouts – Nine A4 repeats or 6-page products in three rows of repeats.

Recalling the early days of Sain Packaging, Sachin says that the company started its journey in 2004 as a small printing firm operated with a small production plant located in Burari village, north Delhi. The plant was barely equipped with a single-colour press and a used double-colour Heidelberg press added later on in a few months. “From time to time we never stop expanding our machine line as well as client base,” mentions Sachin, adding that current machine portfolio of the company consists of three 5-colour sheefed offset presses with coater, one 4-colour offset press and four 2-colour presses.

Heidelberg’s proprietary and award-winning Intellistart technology significantly shortens make-ready times for the Speedmaster CS 92, saving up to 70 percent of operational steps. The Ink fountain liners on the CS 92 ensure zero calibration at every ink key, which supports precise automatic color adjustment. Parallel wash programs monitored by the Ink fountain sensor further shorten make-ready times.

“The quicker make-readies greatly enhance our ability to promptly meet delivery timelines,” agrees Sachin, before adding, “Fully-automated sheet arrival and alignment ensure non-stop production with the CS 92, while feeder and delivery units are designed to handle higher piles of up to 1.3 meters. This reduces print interruptions arising from pile change – clearly a win-win.”

With a rapidly-evolving customer base in Amritsar, Baddi, Roorkee, and other cities, Sain Packaging runs a 65,000 sq ft production facility with 250 employees, converting nearly 400 tonnes of boards every month.

“To thrive in a highly competitive market is a continuous challenge. Any agile enterprise should quickly and effectively respond to market changes and opportunities. Heidelberg is the print partner we trust completely to navigate this complex landscape. This is the brand that we can truly rely on for excellent after-sales support and perfectly-coordinated supply of consumables. With the strong price-performance ratio of Heidelberg Speedmaster CS 92, we are looking forward to increase our current turnover from Rs 40 cr to Rs 100 cr in the 2020-21 fiscal year,” concludes Sachin.
