Situated in Meerut – a historic city in the state of Uttar Pradesh, around 70 km northeast of the national capital New Delhi, Agarwal Print Media, a commercial and packaging printer has effectively been leveraging the advantages of Heidelberg technologies. Taking a big step forward around a year ago, the company pioneered to start an era of high quality printing in the city by installing a brand new Speedmaster SM 74 four-colour press, along with a Suprasetter A 105 and a Polar 115 XC Plus cutting machine. Enabling a number of printers and publishers of the city and nearby areas to appraise the enhanced strengths of Agarwal Print Media after this installation, team Heidelberg India recently organized an open house at their facility under the theme ‘HEI PRODUCTIVITY’. A brief. The second largest city in the National Capital Region of India after Delhi, Meerut is one of the largest producers of sports goods and musical instruments in India, apart from being an education hub, creating a huge market for a number of printers and publishers. Constantly striving to equip themselves with state-of-the-art technologies, the printers in the city have not only been catering to the city-based customers but also increasingly offering their services to neighbouring regions. One such leading printing company is Agarwal Print Media, who made history installing first brand new Speedmaster SM 74 four-colour press in the city, along with a Suprasetter A 105 and a Polar 115 XC Plus cutting machine. With the maximum speed of 15,000 sheets per hour, Speedmaster SM 74 can handle stock thicknesses ranging from 0.03-0.6 millimeter (0.0012-0.024 inch), with maximum print format from 510 – 740 millimeter.

During the open house recently organized by team Heidelberg India at Agarwal Print Media’s premises, under the theme ‘HEI PRODUCTIVITY’, the attendees could witness live demos of the state-of-the-art Heidelberg equipments including Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74 press, Heidelberg Suprasetter A 105 CtP and Polar 115 XC cutter. With a special focus on the press segment, the event enabled the attendees to experience the productivity and versatility of the workhorse – Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74. During the live demonstration of the press, three short run jobs on the substrates of different thicknesses were executed just within thirty minutes in presence of around 75 printers and publishers from Meerut and neighbouring cities, who appreciated the outstanding performance of the machine.

Followed by the open house, a seminar was also organized, in which team Heidelberg India presented overview of Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74, along with other Heidelberg print solutions, evaluating ROI and benefits. Presenting Heidelberg India product portfolio, including prepress, press, postpress and consumables, Deepak Agarwal mentioned that they have installed 150 machines in India since 2005.

Deepak Walia and Munish from Heidelberg India enumerated the highlighted features of the Speedmaster SM 74, of which around 40,000 units have already been installed worldwide. An ideal press for print shops with a professional approach to satisfying growing customer requirements or a desire to grow in a changed market environment, the Speedmaster SM 74 boasts an extended range of standard features geared specifically to the needs of these print shops. Combining successful Speedmaster technology with attractive conditions, it offers reliability in production and investment security by delivering high print quality, reliability, and value retention.

The Speedmaster SM 74 processes a wide range of substrates – from lightweight paper to board. It also benefits from extremely user-friendly and ergonomic operation. The Prinect Press Center Compact with its innovative Intellistart process-oriented operator guidance system enables straightforward and precise machine control. Significantly, Intellistart reduced seventy percent operational steps, making the process user-friendly. The feeder with suction tape, which is unique in its class, optimizes sheet transport. Automation components such as automatic programmable washup devices minimize make-ready times. The Prinect Easy Control colour measuring system, which is fully integrated into the machine control station, reduces paper waste levels. And the delivery – either a compact standard unit or a convenient high-pile model – ensures perfect stacking for rapid finishing. The high energy and resource efficiency of the press also make it the most environmentally friendly press in its class.

Peter Rego, general manager of Heidelberg India also gave brief overview of the Heidelberg worldwide operations covering around two lakh customers in 170 countries with 45 percent market share. Established 160 years ago, the company now provides vast ranges of products, with approach to offer complete solutions to their customers. Giving a positive message to the printers regarding the future of print, Peter conveyed that printed products are felt in every day life by everyone and so the jobs for printers shall continue forever. Printers, therefore, can keep investing in state-of-the-art technology confidently.

On the occasion, Rajesh Agarwal of Agarwal Print Media underlined, “Opting Heidelberg technology has enabled us to deliver the best quality which was earlier supposed impossible from Meerut. Now, sixty to seventy percent share of our total jobs comes from our two quality-conscious customers – Mankind and Idia.” Rajesh’s brother Sanjay Agarwal also appreciated team Heidelberg after installation support and providing training to the operators, enabling them to take optimum advantage of the Speedmaster SM 74.

PK Agarwal, director market and sales of SK Offset Printers also shared his views with focus on Heidelberg from a printer’s perspective.
