The confidence building initiative taken by various event organisers need a special commendation. Earlier, international exhibitions like drupa (Germany), IPEX (UK), Print (US), IGAS (Japan) and China Print (Beijing) were major draw and printing community literally flocked to such events but now exhibitions like Print China, Printpack India, Pamex, Pack Print International and other events in Asia have also become equally popular.

During the exhibition itself, exhibitors look at other exhibitors’ products on display and get motivated further and try to bring out innovative products. Similarly visitors to the shows find their peers coming to expos looking at new offerings. This makes them also go aggressive and as a result take positive decisions in identifying the solutions for their needs. Above all benefit these expos offer to the technical people of printing establishments is that they can shortlist some of the equipments which can further ease or automate their work. Sometimes the owners depute their senior technical staff to the shows to identify some solutions and based on their feedback they themselves go and look at the equipment for final evaluation. These examples in fact convey the positive side of these shows in serving the very purpose in much meaningful way.

Printers do look forward to see the latest innovations within the expos and try to adopt these technological marvels as per their capacity and budgets. Narendra Paruchuri of Pragati Offset Printers from Hyderabad in recently concluded Print China 2015 commented that expos are like universities where just going around and understanding new offerings add to your knowledge immensely.

Drupa taking a three-year cycle is another testimony to the fact that technologies change fast and hence it is important to keep abreast with the same at the earliest. The recently concluded Printpack India 2015 was also truly a technological extravaganza and provided visitors with the much-needed knowledge and products availability. So, printers struggling with diminishing profit margins, can benefit from the potential of technological innovations which can bring them enhanced revenues.

India is a big country and events like these would definitely boost the industry. But, lack of fairgrounds compels the organisers to organise such fairs in few cities like Delhi, Mumbai, etc. The authorities should look into this aspect and come up with more fairgrounds (like China) in different cities, which will give opportunities to entrepreneurs at their doorsteps.

Exhibition companies are really putting in their best efforts in the challenging time of today to keep things going. This initiative is actually developing confidence amongst printers’ community and next generations are being motivated greatly. As rightly put in by Amit Tara of Tara Art Printers, “This is the place & expo has opened up my vision,” while visiting the recently concluded innovationdays by Hunkeler in Switzerland.

Embrace newer technologies by visiting expos!
