Bakshi Mark pushes innovation bar in integrated solutions to a new standard

Being the most trusted and sought after name among the corporate firms engaged in business of marking, coding, traceability, conveying and other allied fields, New Delhi-based Bakshi Mark, is noticeably a one-stop source for complete and integrated solutions. In an exclusive conversation with Print & Publishing, Nagesh Bakshi, chairman & MD, Bakshi Mark Pvt Ltd, traces down a brief history of the company and its products and production plants. Domestically successful Bakshi Mark is now fully geared up for exports. Founded in the year 1995, Bakshi Mark – a brainchild of Nagesh Bakshi, developed MarKode, a brand coding machine which is now available in varied models and configurations. Expanding the portfolio, the next machine the company manufactured in their state-of-the-art manufacturing plant of 1,500 sq m in New Delhi was MarkCon—a breakthrough in automated conveying system for material handling with integrated turnkey solutions. This ISO 9001:2008 company also has an extended production plant at Manesar in Haryana.

MarKode Markjet X: the leap machine

Nagesh BakshiMarKode Markjet X is an advanced nonstop QR Code printer, powered by HP Inkjet Technology. Application range of the machine include: best before expiry, mfg date, barcodes, real time and dynamic printing. “Markjet X is designed for variable data imprints too, such as serial and random numbers, mailers and database printing,” mentions Nagesh Bakshi, adding that the machine is also compatible to ‘track and trace’ DGFT compliance and rejection system. Capable to handle variable printable images like alphabets, numeric, logo, barcodes, Markjet X is designed to connect up to two printheads to produce images of 2 to 48 mm high.

When enquired about Markjet X’s possible applications, Nagesh Bakshi smilingly says, “Today is the era where there is a printing technology for every surface; and Markjet X is for almost everything under the sun.” This coding machine is designed for a gamut of applications including BBE Dates, MFD Dates, GTIN, Serial Numbers, Lot Numbers, QR Codes, 2D Codes, Barcodes, lots more.

MarkCon conveyer system

Indigenously manufactured MarkCon is yet another flagship machine from BAKSHI MARK, designed for vast conveying applications in different industrial domains. This automatic conveyor system is custom designed and integrated with turnkey mechanisms for advanced material handling, which includes operations ranging from unloading raw materials up to production and loading of finished goods. “This conveyer system is easy to install and operate; it has advanced inbuilt features that guarantee reliable output,” explains Nagesh.

An added advantage of MarkCon is that this system features bend and belt conveyors with turntable and automation to maintain jar distance, and it maintains optimum material flow with inclined belt conveyor. Moreover, the system is advantageously composed of bend slat conveyor, roller conveyor and steel slat conveyor, all in 90o bends. And it also features a roller conveyer with a diverter system, a turn table and a modular z-conveyor.

Turnkey conveying solution…

Integrating all its turnkey conveying solutions together, Bakshi Mark produces a complex turnkey system designed perfectly for the packaging and allied industries. Telescopic Hydraulic Conveyor in this integrated system is a state-of-the-art device, which has been awarded by IPMMI (Institute of Packaging Machinery Manufacturers of India) in recognition of its technical competence.

Summing up the roles of the company’s turnkey systems, Nagesh says their integrated solutions are for aligning, coding, collating, gantry, palletisation, pick & place, profiling, robotic, shrink wrapping, sorting, stretch wrapping, taping, track & trace, weighing, so on. “Through our close relationship with suppliers and principals, we are able to offer highly competitive services to our clients in the areas of design, development and manufacturing,” he adds.

Strong quality control

Backed by a strong team of 150 wellexperienced professionals, which comprise engineers and IT experts, BAKSHI MARK manages everything in-house, taking care of different technical disciplines at global standards. The technical team undergoes strict quality control for every single product before shipment.

The team also develops KRABIT, a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software, which according to Nagesh will be available commercially in the market soon. To improve business relation with customers, KRABIT optimally manages and analyses customers’ interactions and data throughout a lifecycle.

In addition to its own products, Bakshi Mark has tied up with a number of eminent offshore companies like LINX, OSLING, CIJ, MARKEM to distribute a line of marking and coding systems to meet the needs of Indian customers. “We take care of the aftersale service of these imported machines we distribute,” says Nagesh, adding that they do try to make their optimum effort to meet the increasing needs of their customers belonging to diverse business parameters.

Some of the regular customers of Bakshi Mark that have been associated with the company for years include Mother Dairy, ITC, PepsiCo, Amazon, Dabur, Moser Baer, Colgate, Amul, Nestle, Cipla, among others.

Next strategic move

“Today, our MarKode has become a brand recognised at a mass scale in the Indian and overseas markets,” mentions Nagesh, adding that they are now fully gearing up to augment exports. He says they have just received the first overseas order of MarkCon from a Sri Lankan client and talk is going on with one from Mexico.
