Prinstance acquires Oyang Pixelprint 440C-HD color digital inkjet roll-to-sheet press
Prinstance is a new sister concern of the well-established Patel Digital Printers, recognized as one of India’s leading service providers in the book printing segment. “Our core focus is to deliver fast, cost-effective, and high-quality print solutions for books, educational materials, and other print-on-demand requirements, backed by years of experience and a reputation for reliability in the industry,” shares Prakash Patel of Prinstance.
The company has recently installed the Oyang Pixelprint 440C-HD color digital inkjet roll-to-sheet press, a high-performance machine designed specifically for the demands of book and commercial printing, supplied by Oyang’s exclusive agent New Print Solutions, which is a new sister concern of the well-established Nippon Color. This press features piezoelectric inkjet technology and supports both color and monochrome printing, with a print width of up to 440 mm. “The model we have installed is capable of printing at speeds up to 90 meters per minute, with an upgraded version soon to support speeds of 150 m/min,” shares Prakash.
One of the key highlights of the press is its industrial-grade Epson HD printheads, powered by Meteor printhead control boards, and a Harlequin-based RIP software developed under Global Graphics. The system includes Oyang’s industry-first Dual Channel Printing (DCP) technology, which extends printhead life and enhances print quality. The press also features a robust frame designed for vibration-free, continuous high-speed operation, and an advanced liquid cooling system that ensures thermal stability of the printhead, control boards, and paper path during long print runs.
“In addition to the printing unit, we’ve integrated a precision sheeter and high-capacity stacker to streamline post-press handling. Future upgrades will include in-line folding to automate book block production,” shares Prakash. With this installation, Prinstance is well-positioned to address short-run, fast-turnaround publishing needs with unmatched efficiency, print quality, and operational stability.
The Oyang digital inkjet press is primarily being used to print a wide range of book-related products. These include black-and-white and full-color textbooks, educational workbooks, novels, children’s books, and exam preparation materials. “The machine’s ability to handle short-run, on-demand printing with fast turnaround times has allowed us to efficiently serve publishers who require frequent reprints in smaller quantities. We can print on uncoated paper ranging from 50 to 120 gsm and soon newer models will be launched to expand into coated paper applications as well,” he adds.
Prinstance chose inkjet technology because it perfectly aligns with the evolving needs of the publishing industry—particularly the growing demand for short-run, on-demand, and variable data printing. Inkjet offers significantly faster turnaround times, reduced waste, and lower setup costs compared to offset printing, making it ideal for reprints and personalized content. With high-speed capabilities and excellent print quality, the Oyang inkjet press allows the user to cater to publishers with tight deadlines while maintaining flexibility in print volumes. Additionally, the technology’s continuous advancements ensure that Prinstance stay competitive and future-ready.
“We anticipate printing approximately 2 to 3 million A4 impressions per month on the new Oyang inkjet press. This volume is driven primarily by reprints, educational content, and short-run jobs from publishers who require high-quality output with quick turnaround. As the adoption of digital workflows increases among our clients, we expect this monthly volume to grow steadily in the coming months,” concludes Prakash.
