Technology is developing at a rapid pace and changing many established methods of accomplishing tasks and completing projects. The print and design industries are excellent examples of areas seeing these changes and innovations. In keeping these in mind, a syllabus revision committee was formed by Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, headed by Thiru M Nandakumar, HOD Printing Technology/ principal (i/c), Arasan Ganesan Polytechnic College, Sivakasi.

The committee was constituted by leading industrialists and academicians. The committee convened three review meetings to add, delete and modify the existing “L” scheme syllabus into a new “M” scheme syllabus which will best meet the industry requirements and bring out job ready candidates in the industry. The new “M” Scheme syllabus developed from the innovative and expansive thrust of the previous one and is designed to prepare students to understand and use the latest technological developments effectively, and introduce themselves to the current ideas and issues. There has been much advancement in printing technology and consequent changes is the need of the industry in respect of which the syllabus was required to be updated.
