ATE launches full print repeat web viewing system – ViewAXIS Tera

ATE has launched the first of its kind, ViewAXIS Tera full print repeat web viewing system for superior process monitoring. ViewAXIS Tera with line scan camera captures high-resolution images which are then visualised on 55″ 4K monitor and for operation on 22” touch monitor. This is the first opportunity where a printer can see 100% of the web width and full repeat, on a single monitor at production speed.

Why ViewAXIS Tera?

During the production run, an operator constantly checks for print quality by visually inspecting the print web. However, at higher web speeds, it is impossible for an operator to spot printing errors in real time with naked eyes. Conventional web videos allow the operator to view a stationary image only of a section of the printed substrate. Until now the only way to monitor the full width of the print web was to use a stroboscope. However, when used for an extended duration, the constant flicker of the stroboscope can strain the eyes.

In today’s competitive and quality conscious environment, precise web viewing is no longer a luxury, but a pre-requisite for printers. With ever-escalating demands for a superior print quality and reduced material wastage, converters need a system for 100% print monitoring.

“For rotogravure printers either there is an entry-level web video or a 100% print inspection system. Full repeat web viewing system, which could monitor full width of the web in real-time was a need for many years, in the Indian market. The ViewAXIS Tera was an idea given by a few printers and OEM’s. They said, “Can we have an intermediate system which in stage 2 can be upgraded to a 100% print inspection system?” The advantage of doing this are two-fold, first operators get to learn to identify the defects on a full print repeat monitoring system and second is the staggered investment for the business.

ViewAXIS Tera is bundled with features such as instant error identification, better image control, and precise web monitoring. Split screen feature aids in the viewing of traffic lights on both edges simultaneously. This system can be used for any type of roll-to-roll printing applications and for various packaging substrate.
