Indonesian company Asia Pulp and Paper (APP), which is one of the world’s largest producers of pulp and papers, has set to invest Rs 24,000 crore in a mill and port facilities at Prakasam in Andhra Pradesh. For the project, an agreement has been signed between APP and Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board. Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu said the project would be a game changer in the region for the fact that it will able to produce five million tonnes of papers, creating jobs for 4000 people directly and 12000 people indirectly. The plant will benefit farmers in the region as there will be new demand for pulpwoods like subabul and eucalyptus.
