MPLA celebrates diamond jubilee

The Madras Printers’ and Lithographers’ Association (MPLA) shall complete sixty years of its existence in July this year. To mark its Diamond Jubilee, they organised a function combined with Printers Day on March 04, 2012. With the theme ‘Print Buyer and Print Provider’, a day-long Seminar was held and in the evening Johannes Gutenberg Awards instituted by MPLA were given to some fifteen nominees comprising of printers, suppliers and teaching faculty.

S Muthiah and Anu Varghese, both former presidents of MPLA, conducted the seminar. In his welcome address and introductory remarks, Muthiah traced history of the association describing how the founding fathers laid foundation for the well-known body. He emphasized on the importance of knowing the roots by the young printers to grasp the dedication and commitment to print.

In his inaugural address, K Balaji, managing director, Kasturi & Sons Ltd (owners of The Hindu Group of Publications) congratulated MPLA for their service to printing fraternity for long sixty years, with their motto ‘printing forever’.

Other eminent speakers include: Chand Das, CEO, EXPN Division, ITC; Paul Vinay Kumar, editorial director, Westland Ltd; Alexander Zachariah, director, Rubecon; professor Dr Rajendrakumar Anayath, head of Heidelberg PMA India; P Chellappan, director, Palaniappa Brothers; and AV Ram Mohan, director, Alter-Ego Management Consulting P Ltd. Hanan Drory, VP sales & marketing, New Proimage also made a presentation on ink saving software.
