Three make readies with varied stock thickness ranging from 125 gsm to 350 gsm were carried out. Printers from all over India were amazed to witness a live production of varied jobs with remarkably short make-ready times, very high productivity and versatility. One of the highlights of the demo was a 350 gsm packaging job running at 15,000 iph and within the next ten minutes the press was producing a 150 gsm commercial job. “At an average, 50 jobs are produced and two million business cards are printed and delivered in a day,” said Dr Thilak Kumar, managing director, Shree Maruthi Printers, Coimbatore on the productivity of their newly installed Heidelberg Speedmaster SM74-4H.

After the live demo, Heidelberg India conducted a seminar titled ‘HEI PRODUCTIVITY’ at a hotel in the city. On the occasion, welcoming the gathering, Venkataraman Ganesan, regional sales manager, Heidelberg India, highlighted the importance of delivering value to the print products and mentioned that sustaining growth in a competitive environment is one of the major challenges faced by any printing industry today. Heidelberg has the solutions to overcome this aggressive business trend and help printers remain competitive. Udo Fiebiger, regional business manager, Heidelberg Asia Pacific, gave insights into the press solutions from Heidelberg, particularly the SM 74 offset press assembled in Heidelberg’s factory in China.

Peter Rego, general manager-sales, Heidelberg India and Saseendran Baskaran, assistant general manager-sales, Heidelberg India, touched upon noteworthy subjects in their presentations giving an overview of the products launched at drupa 2012, too. In the last session of the seminar, printers were exposed to various finance options available, enabling them to procure latest technologies.

“Coimbatore has been an important market for us. The market has grown in the past few years at a fast pace especially with the emerging industries like real estate, label, textiles and FMCG. Commercial printing has seen a fast growth in this region. Printers in Coimbatore are more conscious about the quality printing and we have many printers like Shree Maruthi Printers, Kalaikathir Achagam, Hitech Offset, Ace Data and Chroma Print, pioneering the adoption of brand new state-of-the-art equipments from Heidelberg,” added Ganesan.
