PackPlus South and PrintFair made it big again at Bengaluru edition

PackPlus South, one of the largest packaging shows in South India, successfully concluded its Bengaluru edition, which was concurrently held with PrintFair, a show on commercial printing, package converting and large-format graphic arts, on April 10-13, 2019 at BIEC in Bengaluru. The expo had 259 exhibitors showcasing around 150 live demonstrations of machines, new product launches and several other attractions that provided visitors a lot to partake. A sheer attendance of more than 9,800 trade visitors at the show once again proved that PackPlus South and PrintFair is the most attended packaging & printing expo in South India.

PackPlus South 2019 featured a league of exhibitors comprising packaging machine and material manufacturers as well as providers of latest solutions and technologies. A diverse range of machines, such as filling & sealing systems, wrapping & folding systems, corrugated squaring bundlers, robotic arms and many others, were running live at the stalls of various exhibitors giving trade visitors onsite demonstrations of latest products and technologies.

Some of the key exhibitors at PackPlus South 2019 included The Supreme Industries, Signode India, KP Water Corporation, Domino, Printech India, Hilda Automation, BIZONGO, Bericap India, Superpack Packaging Machines, Durapak, to mention a few. The companies chose the expo as a strategic platform to display their array of products and solutions. Signode showcased its flagship SIGVCS Series automatic corrugated squaring bundler, which is high speed and operator friendly.

Live demos at the stalls of Dopack and Alstrut India pulled crowd. Dopack ran its multihead packing machine, DP-130, live at its stall. The machine is designed for packaging fragile bulk materials with irregular shape puffed food, potato chips, tea leaves, peanut, candy and others. Alstrut demonstrated its Universal Robot, which is a collaborative robot designed for universal use. It is easy programming, flexible deployment and light weight. Pooja Power Products, which is distributor of Scheider Electrics in India, demonstrated Megabond binding machine equipped with Scheider component.

On other side of the show floor, BIZONGO showcased its design, development and procurement solutions. Shalmali Patkar, Associate Director-Marketing, BIZONGO, said, “At PackPlus South 2019, we are privileged to meet clients from various industries. Food is a major sector wherefrom we received a horde of potential visitors. We have also received clients from automobile and warehousing sectors. This expo really helps us gain good exposure in the South Indian market and it is overall a good experience for us.”

Elixir Technologies attracted crowds of trade visitors with the showcase of its state-of-the-art solutions for modified atmosphere packaging such as vacuum and tray packaging. KP Water Corporation displayed its fully automatic bottling line. Robopac stretch wrapping machine was one of the key products on display by Durapak. A key product at the stall of Euro Pack Machinery Group was EPAPM Collar Type Multihead Weigher.

“The footfall in the exhibition is remarkable,” mentioned Rakesh Kakkar, General Manager-Sales & Marketing, Polyplex Corporation Ltd. He continued, “We received a lot of business enquiries, which will help us to grow our business in the South Indian market. I congratulate PackPlus team for organizing such a wonderful event in the region.”

DOMINO was yet another key exhibitor at the show, which showcased small systems that make big differences. The company attractively showcased its small, compact and powerful D-Series laser coding machine as one of the key highlights at the expo.
IndoBound, a packaging finishing major, at the expo demonstrated a line of its flagship products including its popular single clamp perfect binder, developed for both digital and offset printers, ranging from small to large commercial printers, notebook manufacturers, publishers, etc. Among the live demonstrators at the expo was Mahisa. The company demonstrated its Ecoplus Series of melters which are designed economically for hot-melt dispensing.

Exhibitors were seen busy on all the four days of the expo attending queries from trade visitors and networking with new clients. “This is the third time we are participating at PackPlus South. We regularly exhibit in PackPlus Delhi as well. The show has always turned out to be good for us. In fact, we have received an overwhelming response from the visitors with the bookings of 1.8 cr at PackPlus South 2019,” said Ritesh Barot, Partner, KP Water Corporation.

Mehta Cad Cam, another crowd puller at show, demonstrated its ever popular flagship laser marking and coding systems. The machines on showcase at the company’s stall during the expo included LaserJet F Series and LaserJet C Series, suitably designed for cutting both metallic and non-metallic materials such as ABS, PVC, copper, epoxy resins, etc. Innovative products at Sahil Graphics included a range of paper bags and straws that are made of sustainable and environment friendly materials.

The show also witnessed participation from the international companies like Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), Government of Ras Al Khaimah, and Pallet Co (LLC) from Dubai and Guangzhou Hengrui Non-Woven Co Ltd from China, aiming at taping the growing South Indian market.

Printing prowess@PrintFair’19

Concurrent with PackPlus South 2019 was the PrintFair ’19, an exclusive expo on commercial printing, package converting and digital large-format graphics. Next Events organised the show in association with Karnataka State Printers Association (KSPA). A host of key exhibitors showcasing a range of ultra-modern machines and technologies at the expo included EPSON, Xerox India, Canon India, Konica Minolta, NBG Printographic Machinery, Grafica Flextronica and others.

EPSON displayed its range of machines designed for all purposes ranging from office use up to large-format graphic applications. “I came to visit PrintFair ’19. I was looking for an eco-solvent machine, found a good option here and purchased it from EPSON.

It was right decision to come to the expo,” said Mahesh Kumar Yadav, Harsh Digital Print, Mumbai.

Canon India, on the other side, showcased its imagePRESS C8000 P colour digital press as key product, along with its popular imagePROGRAF TX 5400 and TM5300 large-format printers. In the expo, Exelcode sold one of its key products, FASTJET F500, a small character inkjet printer designed for high-end code, to Bengaluru-based SK Enterprises.

Konica Minolta at its stall demonstrated their two flagship digital presses—AcuurioPRESS C6100/C6085 and bizhub PRO 1100. Both the presses are production systems that deliver rock-solid performance, professional image quality and non-stop productivity, meeting all demands from in-house sprinting to professional printing services. Likewise, Xerox India was among the biggest exhibitors at the show demonstrating a line of production digital presses for packaging printing. The presses included Xerox Versant 180 and 3100 Presses, Xerox Colour C60/C70 Printer, an amazing press for productivity, scalability and delivering professional image quality—all-in-one.

Print Process Corporation was another exhibitor which showcased a line of Primera label printers and applicators that run live at their stall. Vikram Ahuja of Print Process Corporation said that their products are designed primarily for short-run label solutions. Great Eastern, a leader in bar code printing and traceability solutions, showcased its range of Toshiba and Denso machines.

NBG Printographic, a leading manufacturer of web offset printing presses, has been importing a line of packaging and security printing machines, paper-bag making machines, rigid box making line, automatic gluing and spotter machines, die-cutting machines from a handful of companies including Hongming, Fangbang, Dingsung and STARflex.

One of the crowd pullers at the expo was Novexx Solutions, whose products in India are currently distributed by manroland India. The company demonstrated it crowd-pulling multi-functional ALS labeling systems, which are perfectly designed for industrial labeling systems for applying labels to products, boxes, trays and pallets.

Aztec was one of the showstoppers at the expo carrying out live demos of their flagship machines. The company demonstrated its LT710 small character inkjet printer. Shivkumar Venugopal, General Manager – South, Aztech Fluids & Machineries Pvt Ltd, informed that the printer is the best choice for production-oriented companies looking for machine in lowest cost of ownership and highest delivered value.

In addition to machines and technological solutions, the expo had a host of exhibitors showcasing a range of labeling and packaging materials and solutions. Avery Dennison showcased a portfolio of sheets comprising semi-gloss, uncoated/matte, PET clear, matt white PET, polypropylene white, destructible vinyl, ultradelaminable film. The products are perfectly designed for general labels, shopping labels, pharma labels, personal care, promotional labels and others.

For Ashish from Bengaluru, this was the second edition of PackPlus South he was visiting. “This year I visited with the objective to buy a packaging machine and finally bought an over wrapping machine from Jet Pack. This expo is well arranged and a fruitful event to visit. I would say it is a complete solution platform for the packaging industry,” he commented.

Sudhakar S Shetty, President, Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI) was very happy with the response of the show. “PackPlus South and PrintFair are very well-organised events. The shows are very useful for the people engaged in printing and packaging industry of Karnataka, especially as it can help them update and upgrade their machines and technologies. We are very happy with the response, and FKCCI will be glad to associate with the show in its next edition,” he shared.

“The good omen of rain during the exhibition set up enthralled positive energy and a heavy footfall of visitors on all the four days of the event. The response was amazing. PackPlus South will come back to Hyderabad in the month of March 2020. In between, PackPlus will be held from 28-31 August 2019 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi,” said Neetu Arora, Director, Next Events (P) Ltd, the then organisers of the show.
