Design & Print has recently charged up its digital printing power with the installation of a new Canon imagePRESS V800 digital colour production system.
“Parallel to offset, we embrace digital printing as a new way to diversify business into a different vertical,” tells Srinath Samy of Design & Print. He further states that the new Canon digital press is chosen to further enhance short-run jobs and bespoke prints.
He continues, “This new iPR V800 is second Canon press in our digital printing unit. The first one was an iPR C910, which we bought five years ago. Since then we have been smitten by the prowess and potential of Canon technology. In addition to the machines, we are relatively happy with the way the team Canon India helps us locally whenever we need support or guidance from them, whether technical or else.”
Digital unit of Print & Design is engaged in printing and production of commercial graphics like business cards, brochures, calendars, fliers, catalogues,etc. According to Samy, they choose the new iPR V800 to boost productivity and print textures. “Beauty of this Canon digital colour production press is its capability to produce unique and bespoke graphics on textured media,” he adds.
Designed for oversized prints, iPR V800 excels in printing on wide varieties of media, including textured papers. It handles substrates as thin as 52 gsm up to thick stocks of 350 gsm including covers, envelopes, synthetics, and long sheets of length up to 1300 mm. “With all these, this Canon digital press delivers graphics in 2400×2400 dpi with vibrant colours and textured surfaces,” mentions Srinath. According to him, it has been just three months since they started running the iPR V800, producing just 200,000 sheets till date. He asserts that they still have to exploit the most of the press’ capabilities to engage in printing and production of outstanding graphic prints.
