Prof NC Saha, director IIP, along with galaxy of 17 speakers steered the day for the 200 strong attendees that comprised IIP’s alumni, packaging industry officials and other delegates. Speaking to them were august names such as Ashok Misra, former director, IIT Mumbai and C Bhaskar, MD – CEO of Xpro India Limited.
Prof NC Saha said, “In the 21st century, ‘Innovations’ and ‘Sustainability’ are the two key words which have really made a vibrating environment for the business growth and economic development globally. The Indian packaging industry is constantly growing at the rate of 13-15% which is almost three times more than global growth rate of packaging industry which is about 5-6%.” Due to this, it is expected that by 2020, the turnover should reach to 32 billion USD. It is also reported that about 65% of packaging materials are consumed only for fresh and processed food products followed by 15% for bulk drugs and pharmaceuticals, 5% for cosmetics & toiletries and the balance for other products.
