Vinsak acquires 54-year-old Spanish press manufacturer Rotatek
The new entity will now be known as Rotatek Printing and Packaging Technologies SL. The acquisition was officially announced at drupa 2024.
In 2023, Vinsak initiated the acquisition process of Rotatek and successfully completed it in 2024 at the drupa exhibition. Rotatek’s management remains unchanged, continuing its operations as before, headquartered in Barcelona, Spain. The new entity will now be known as Rotatek Printing and Packaging Technologies SL. The primary focus has been on assisting the management in expanding the team and enhancing systems and processes through increased capital infusion, new software, and operational improvements. Rotatek will continue to manufacture machines from its Headquarters in Barcelona. The company has significantly enhanced its manufacturing capabilities by acquiring an additional 15,000 square feet of space for its facilities. To support this growth, Rotatek has onboarded new talent in engineering, sales, and service departments and aims to appoint agents worldwide and double its number of machines installed annually.

Currently, Rotatek is focused solely on achieving two key milestones: doubling the annual number of installed machines and providing enhanced service to all existing customers. Every Rotatek press is fully customizable to efficiently produce the end product in a single pass, utilizing the most cost-effective production methods. They encourage converters to bring their specific production challenges, as they can provide technically superior solutions tailored to their needs. Rotatek is aggressively expanding its global footprint, strengthening its partnership with Rotatek Brasil to penetrate the crucial Brazilian market. New agents and distribution agreements have been completed to ensure localized service across various countries.
Post-acquisition…
Since the acquisition, Rotatek has deployed machines to Smurfitkappa Security Systems in Ireland, Paramount Packaging in UAE, and Hitech Print Systems in India and also commissioned machines in Nepal and China, totalling over 15 million in value and it has already started receiving enquires for new Universal 850.

- Vinsak group was associated with Rotatek from 1996 to 2013 and then again from 2020 onwards.
- They sold more than 100 Rotatek presses including very complicated configurations. For instance, they sold a machine with 17 units which included offset, flexo, digital, screen printing, die cutting and sheeting units all in one line to produce high security products. This press was 120 feet long and improved the productivity by 5 times and reduced production costs of the end product by 40% .
- In 2023, Rotatek was owned by a PE firm from Spain which was able to run it commercially but not invest into R & D, new software, and state of the art production methods.
- In July 2023, the Vinsak Group acquired the Productive unit, the patents, technical knowledge and the team of Rotatek.
- The core technical team of Rotatek is offering their experience and technical knowledge to the world. They are also successfully supporting more than 1800 machines around the world including some which are upto 30 years old.
- Since been, VInsak has been working at the following: Integrating the company into the Group’s business policies, ethics, and ethos and upgrading its systems and processes( both technical and commercial) and improving infrastructure (both hardware and software).
- This complete Business Transformation activity is being led by Dr Gita Bajaj, Group Director of HR and Business Transformation. With her deep knowledge of turning companies around on a Global Scale, this process is firmly on track.
- Rotatek CEO Mario Gamez continues to lead the company very well by managing all the functions of the organisation.
- On the Sales front, the Global Sales structure has been revived. Their close association with Rotatek Brazil will ensure a new thrust in the Brazilian markets. Their existing distributors in Germany, Italy, Portugal, France and UK have been retrained on the portfolio and they are generating new leads every week. They have new distributors in Thailand, Vietnam and Japan to grow the market in the far east. With the Vinsak group active in the Middle East, India and Africa, they have the globe more or less covered. North America is the territory under development now and we are looking to appoint a distributor for the US and Canada.
- On the technical front, they have a host of new developments planned. In 2024, they will launch the Universal 850 for Pharma and Carton markets. In 2025, they plan on launching the new Brava Semi rotary press for Labels which will be fully revamped.
