Scheduled to be held during Feb 23-28, 2013 at India Expo Center & Mart, Greater Noida, NCR Delhi, the biggest printing industry exhibition in India is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors for discovering the convergence of state-of-the-art products in bigger exhibition space. Here is a brief. Organized by Indian Printing, Packaging and Allied Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (IPAMA), the Printpack India has emerged as an internationally renowned exhibition over the years, providing an appropriate platform for not only domestic print machinery manufacturers, but various global industry majors. Now, the eleventh edition of the event is entirely poised to set new benchmark of success. As per KS Khurana, president, IPAMA, “The exposition will be a panoramic display of the latest printing, packaging, converting, digital and signage technology and gizmos, promoting a vibrant ‘Brand India’ image. The exhibition will not only be a stimulus but also a growth motor for the industry. It will leave an indelible impression on the printing & packaging industry, globally.”

“Printpack India is one of the Asia’s biggest trade shows, where not only Indian companies but world’s majors into printing and allied machinery are going to mark their presence. With wider exhibit profile, the show will be bigger than the previous shows. Exhibitors from 16 countries are going to display their products in 45,000 sq m exhibition space. We are expecting more than 50,000 visitors, not only from the different parts of the country but also from SAARC, USA, Europe, Middle East, South-Asian countries, etc,” conveyed CP Paul, general secretary, IPAMA.

Carves a new niche in popularity…

If attendance in Printpack India 2013 meets for visitors/printers and interest evinced in the event in press conferences is an indication of the popularity, then this show has certainly carved out a new niche already. For ensuring maximum footfall in Printpack India 2013, a series of promotional meets for visitors have been held by the organizers across the country, covering various hubs of the industry. In North India, the meet was held in Jammu on November 25, 2012; Ludhiana on December 23, 2012; Jalandhar on January 02, 2013 and Chandigarh on January 03 2013. In the West, the promotional meets were held in Surat, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, and Rajkot during January 6-12, 2013. Meanwhile, the meets were held in the South of India at Coimbatore, Madurai, and Kochi. The organisers also endeavoured to promote the show in neighboring countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and in other potential markets like UAE, Kenya and South Africa. At all the promotional functions, the response from the industry was overwhelming. As if, the constituents were literally waiting for the mega showcase to be held.

Here are highlights from some of the prominent exhibitors:

Fujifilm India (Stall D-12/08, Hall 7): At the show, Fujifilm India will showcase Acuity LED1600 ranges along with digital inkjet press called ‘JetPress‘ and Green CtP consumables technologies. The Acuity LED1600 fully incorporates the cutting-edge technologies of the Fujifilm group, from the uniquely designed LED lamp unit to the high-precision / high-speed inkjet printhead, high-sensitivity UV ink, and many others. Keys to Acuity LED1600 performance are class-leading productivity of 20m ²/hr, high-quality from a wide colour gamut and smooth tonal gradations, and the flexibility to print to a broad range of media up to 13 mm thickness. These give the ability to produce high value-added promotional tools, thus providing powerful support for expanding the business into new markets.

As per Kenichi Tanaka, managing director of the company, they will use Printpack 2013 as a platform to unveil their latest strategy for digital printing solutions. As part of this strategy, Fujifilm India is now ready to offer digital printing solutions specifically tailored to different market applications, and will be using Printpack 2013 as the launch platform for a brand new range of high performance Acuity series printers and digital inkjet press with performance characteristics tailored to the commercial and packaging print segments.

Goss International (Stall J-19/020, Hanger 03): Goss International will be exhibiting in association with its agent for India S L Kulkarni Cyril Graphics at the 11th Printpack India 2013. Focusing on products ideal for the India market, Goss will present solutions for newspaper, commercial and packaging applications. Highlights of the Goss International exhibit on booth J-19/02 will include the latest addition to the Goss newspaper portfolio, the Magnum HPS press.

With a simple single-width, one-around press cylinder arrangement, production speeds of up to 70,000 copies per hour make the Goss Magnum HPS unique in its class, providing unrivalled productivity from the more flexible press format. Goss International will also be asserting its longstanding expertise in the 4×1 newspaper press format favored in India for enabling the frequent single plate changes required for producing high numbers of localized editions cost-effectively. The most recent Goss introduction to the 4×1 market is the Universal XL press which offers the high-quality pedigree enjoyed by the entire Universal platform in web widths up to 1700mm (66.9 inches).

For commercial printing applications Goss will be emphasizing the capabilities of its M-500 and M-600 press systems. Emphasizing web offset as a viable alternative for folding carton, flexible packaging, pre-print and label printing, Goss International has also recently launched its Goss Sunday Vpak press series. Based on the groundbreaking Sunday gapless press concept, two models feature quick-change blankets and printing cylinder sleeves to make ‘infinitely’ variable repeat lengths easy and affordable.

According to Tim Mercy, vice president of commercial web sales for Goss International in Asia, Printpack India offers the perfect platform to address the specific requirements of this vast and varied market. “As one of the largest printing exhibitions in Asia, with a diverse appeal across commercial, newspaper and packaging applications, Printpack India is a very significant event in the Indian exhibition calendar. Grafica Flextronica (Stall H-17/09B, Hanger 02): Grafica Flextronica, a regular exhibitor in Printpack India, will be showcasing its fully automatic screen printing machine – Swing cylinder press with inline UV, Camshell and nano series machines such as nano-print, nano-print plus, nano-screen maker 5-in-1, nano-sharpener, nano-uv, besides huge collection of screen printed value addition samples produced by DMI institute, an industry initiative of Grafica.

(Stall C 07/03, Hall 05): The company will be showcasing ‘print plus coat’ a high production low investment coating device for sheet fed offset machines. Besides this, the company will be showing roller coater, UV curing system (inter-deck and on conveyor) and IR driers for special effect UV and for printing on non absorbent surface like plastic or met pet sheets.

Line O Matic Graphic Industries (Stall C-09/01 & 08/02, Hall 05): The company is going to demonstrate (Live Demonstration) three of their most innovative and revolutionary machines at the exhibition. These include: fully automatic exercise book machine – Nova RB104; automatic exercise book binding machine – Uno B104; and automatic reel to sheet super high speed ruling / flexo printing machine – SHS104.

manroland India (Stall H-14/10, Hangar 01): At the 11th Printpack India 2013 exhibition, manroland India will focus at its revolutionary web press – CROMOMAN 4-1, designed exclusively for the Indian market. manroland India’s booth in Hangar 1 will highlight the company’s competence in web and sheetfed offset technology, print consumables, mailroom equipment and value added services. manroland web systems is also a sponsor of the NPES Print Business Outlook Conference 2013 which will run concurrently with the Printpack India exhibition. manroland web systems’s vice president sales, Timothy Ruth will present on the topic ‘Trends for newspapers’. Visitors to the manroland India booth can also see a Live Demonstration of BÖWE SYSTEC self-mailing sealers and daily presentations on creative newspapers, packaging printing and ROLAND preowned equipment.

Understanding the current market requirements in high productivity, efficient newspaper production, manroland web systems has designed the CROMOMAN 4-1 exclusively for the Indian market. Within 12 months of its official launch, the press boasts of two successful installations in the Indian market at The Times of India in Pune and Kolkata. These presses have been independently installed by manroland India’s team of experienced web engineers. manroland India has built a strong web service team of Indian engineers exclusively trained at the company’s headquarters in Augsburg, Germany to cater to the Indian web customers.

The CROMOMAN 4-1 is a double width, single circumference press with H-type printing units and floor mounted reel stands placed parallel to each other. Designed for speeds of upto 75,000 copies per hour offering various production options such as web width variability and quarter folds, the compact CROMOMAN can fit into existing buildings thus eliminating the need to construct a special building and reducing infrastructure costs drastically. On the sheetfed side, manroland India will highlight its benchmark ROLAND 700 press ideally suited for commercial and packaging printers. manroland sheetfed recently announced the delivery of its 100th press after the acquisition of the company by UK based Langley Holdings. Notably, at drupa last year, manroland India signed a deal for installation of a six-colour ROLAND 706 HiPrint with an inline coater at Hira Print’s new printing facility in Mumbai.

A must see on the manroland booth will be the BÖWESYSTEC range of mailroom and inserting systems. Manugraph India (Stall H14/05, Hanger 01): Manugraph would present live demo of MK 1060M/MF automatic platen die cutting machine with stripping, the excellent new cost effective solution featuring high quality, high speed, fast delivery, quick return; and MK 420, a fully automatic sheet inspection machine which enables automatic detection of products ensuring quality. Besides, Manugraph India will be setting technology benchmarks for the industry, introducing the latest addition to their stable, an efficient web machine catering to the book printing industry. Short web path ensures excellent print quality and reduced waste, which provides an excellent price performance ratio. The other leading products from Manugraph include Smartline: 4×1 with a speed of 70,000 cph, the first Indian manufactured double width machine and Dreamline: 50,000 cph, a double width single circumference eight page newspaper press for flexible newspaper printing.

Memory Repro systems (Stall B-06/02, Hall 03): The company will be displaying pre-press and post-press machinery, press consumables and spare parts at the show. The new range of products in pre-press, include: range of plate punch & bender suitable for sheet-fed & web-offset machines, video plate punch & bender for web-offset, machines, PRIM colour registration control for web presses, Coneyorised Baking Oven with in-line wash/gum/dry and stacker. Besides, for packaging, they will be showcasing: thermal lamination machine with auto-cut / board knurling machine with option of auto-feeder, folder & gluing machine with crash lock bottom & glue dispensing gun system, flute lamination machine, rigid box making plant.

MGE India (Stall H15/11+13, Hangar 01): The company will be displaying the new EcoSmart series of energy efficient Dampening Chillers at the upcoming Printpack exhibition. This new series of units builds on the existing reliability and performance that has come to be expected of MGE’s PressMate systems whilst adding in two additional new benefits: energy saving through variable capacity cooling system; and remote diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Monotech Systems (Stall D-12/10, Hall 7): The company will be displaying JETSCI YAQ inkjet printing System at Printpack India 2013. Monotech Systems begins the new year 2013 with the installation of its own manufactured JETSCI YAQ inkjet printing system. Not disclosing the name of the customer, TP Jain , MD , Monotech Systems said “ We are celebrating and very happy to announce the first installation of our JETSCI YAQ .”

JETSCI Y series was launched during recent Label Expo India in November 2012 which is manufactured and integrated in India by Monotech Systems Limited. JETSCI –Y Series has three different models depending on the end use, JETSCI –YUV, JETSCI –YAQ, JETSCI-YMCR, which will print variable data on most substrates currently being used in the printing Industry. “Inkjet printing market is growing really very fast globally and JETSCI is the result of our RnD team’s great efforts, we were able to deliver the solution to market in shortest time frame. We believe JETSCI Y series is the MOST Affordable, Innovative & fastest inkjet printing solution to print variable data in narrow format printing,” added Jain.

Muller Martini (stall H-13/ 02, Hanger 01): Experts from Muller Martini shall be available throughout the show for technical discussions and presentation of wide range of Muller Martini products. MMServices was a tremendous success at the Drupa’12. Continuing with this trend, Muller Martini shall also present the MMServices module at the Print Pack India. This would be of great interest to existing and prospective customers of MM equipment – be it new, old or pre-owned machinery; in terms of: optimizing operating and investment costs; securing productivity, quality and added value; providing reliable investment protection; and maintaining and increasing the profitability of existing equipment.

PAPERBIND (Stall C-09/02A, Hall 05): Having an exclusive alliance with GMP to bring its premium laminating technology to the Indian subcontinent, PAPERBIND announced the launch of a complete new range of products for Print Pack India 2013. Spanning all categories of the print finishing process, these new machines are amongst the most superior in the market place and offer previously unheard of levels of efficiency and customer benefits. The Printpack India 2013 product lineup includes: GMP laminators, PROCUT TITAN 265, PUR SYSTEM 444 Plus, DPC 375 AF and DPC 375 SCC, and GW 6000 Numbering System.

Prakash Webtech (Stall H-17/09, Hangar 02): Faridabad (Haryana) based Prakash Webtech Pvt Ltd will be showcasing their fully loaded 36,000 speed 4-high tower at the Printpack India 2013 expo. As per Saurabh Gupta, director, Prakash Webtech Pvt Ltd, “The Tower will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies. The focus of the live demo will be on showcasing its significant cost saving feature in terms of paper wastage, premium printing quality with optimum ink-water balance.”

QuadTech (Stall H15/07, Hangar 01): QuadTech will present its enhanced portfolio of press control technology under the theme ‘The Power of Better—People + Technology = Solutions’ at Printpack India 2013. The company will exhibit products for newspaper, commercial and packaging print markets, as well as participate in the NPES Print Business Outlook Conference on 25 February. QuadTech offers an extensive range of products for register and ribbon control, colour control, ink control, 100% web inspection and data management software, with solutions that improve performance, productivity and output for newspaper, commercial and packaging printers.

Vijaya Grafiks Inc (Stall A02/02, Hall 01): The company will be showing live demonstration of fully automatic carton folder gluer model ‘Veenine’ for lock bottom cartons. Another machine to showcase is liner carton/ window patching machine.

NPES to host the Print Business Outlook Conference 2013

-in conjunction with Printpack India 2013 to explore possibility of profitability with new technologies, and update on global market trends

As printing, converting and packaging industry leaders convene in February for Printpack India 2013, the ever-changing global print market will be explored in depth at the NPES Print Business Outlook Conference 2013 presented by NPES, The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies, USA, and co-sponsored by the Indian Printing Packaging & Allied Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (IPAMA). With theme ‘Mission Possible—How to Profit from New Technology’, the event will be held February 24-25, 2013 at the India Exposition Centre, Greater Noida, India, in conjunction with PrintPack India 2013.
